======================================================================== CHRIST MADE THE WORLD by A.W. Tozer ======================================================================== Summary: Jesus Christ, the eternal Word, made the world and owns it all, and His plan of redemption involved using the body of the virgin Mary to give Him a human body. Topics: "Creation", "Christ's Sovereignty" Scripture References: Genesis 1:1, Psalm 24:1, Isaiah 9:6, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:30-31, John 1:3, John 1:14, Romans 11:36, Colossians 1:16-17, Hebrews 1:2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ DESCRIPTION ------------------------------------------------------------------------ A.W. Tozer emphasizes that the world we inhabit is fundamentally Christ's creation, asserting that every part of the earth belongs to Him as He is the one who made it all. He highlights the intimate connection between Christ and creation, noting that even the atoms of Mary and the straw in the manger were made by Him. Tozer also clarifies the role of Mary, stating that while she was the mother of Jesus, she should not be referred to as the 'mother of God' as it misrepresents her role in God's redemptive plan. The sermon calls for a proper understanding of Christ's sovereignty over the world and the honor due to Mary. Ultimately, it invites believers to recognize and celebrate the divine authority of Christ in all aspects of life. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CONTENT ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Think about the world into which our Lord Jesus Christ came-it is actually Christ's world! Every section of this earth that we buy and sell and kick around and take by force of arms is a part of Christ's world. He made it all and He owns it all. Jesus Christ, the eternal Word, made the world. He made the very atoms of which Mary was made; the atoms of which His own body was made. He made the straw in the manger upon which He was laid as a new-born baby. Let me digress here. I hear an occasional devotional exercise on the radio, in which the participants ask: "Mary, mother of God, pray for us!" It is only right that we should express our position based on the Word of God, and the truth is that Mary is dead and she is not the "mother of God." Mary was the mother of that tiny babe, for God in His loving and wise plan of redemption used the body of the virgin Mary as the matrix to give the eternal Son a human body. We join in giving her proper honor when we refer to her as Mary, mother of Christ. ======================================================================== Source: https://sermonindex.net/speakers/aw-tozer/christ-made-the-world/ ========================================================================
