The reason for their courage was their unwavering faith in God, knowing that He was on their side. The speaker emphasizes that God will only allow us to face trials and suffering that we can bear, and that we are always in His hands, not in the hands of our adversaries. The sermon also highlights the importance of praising God, especially in times of fear and difficulty, as it reminds us of His power and strengthens our faith. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CONTENT ------------------------------------------------------------------------ God lives and works today. In all ages, men have sought to praise Him in their songs. It is important to bring Him praise, for this is why we have been created. But what should we do when we are afraid of the future, or having a hard time and don't feel up to praising God? Listen to the answer in today's meditation by Basilia Schling called, Giving True Praise to God. One of our sisters was supposed to go to a foreign branch for several years. We had come together for our last morning Bible study with her. Our hearts were filled with many questions. When would we see her again? The land which she was going to was in danger in many ways. What would the future hold? That day, the Bible reading was like a greeting from heaven. It was Acts 4, when the Apostle Peter and John were tried before the high priest. We read about their courageous testimony, and how, after their release, they prayed with the other Christians and praised God so much that the ground shook. Why did the two apostles stand so majestically before the court? Why weren't they afraid? Because they knew that they had the Almighty Lord of heaven and earth on their side. They were able to tell themselves, Until God's moment comes when we are to suffer and die for Him, no one can lay a hand on us. And when God's moment has come, we can be certain that the Father will only send us as much suffering as we can bear. He won't let us be tempted beyond our strength. We're always in His hands, and not in the hands of our human adversaries. On that morning, as we said goodbye to our sister, we experienced how alive the Word of God is. All our anxiety for our sister was blown away. Mother Basilea told her, Don't forget that you're in the hands of the Almighty God. He alone is the Lord. No terror can come close to you because you're never in the hands of people. So give thanks and praise Him. You are in the Father's hands. For this reason, those of us who are fearful by nature may become the most comforted of all people. God makes the weak strong. Therefore, the more we are in danger, physically or spiritually, the more we should praise God for His marvelous might. We are in His hands. All is by you directed. You lead me tenderly. Rest in you safe hidden. O Father, my most dear. In every care and sorrow, I yet may find peace here. I know that you directed all that will come to me. Each pain you give me, serving my soul's true destiny. My heart in fear or sorrow may dwell in quietness. I trust in your will, Holy, and that is blessedness.
