It delves into the significance of not just following His doctrine or words, but truly experiencing His tangible presence through the Holy Spirit, which brings comfort, freedom, healing, and deliverance from various struggles. The speaker stresses that serving Jesus without His presence is incomplete and that the ultimate pursuit should be to have Jesus in every aspect of our lives. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CONTENT ------------------------------------------------------------------------ He said, apart from me you can do nothing. He did not say apart from my example, apart from my words. He didn't say apart from his doctrine or his character. He said apart from me you can do nothing. Apart from his presence, apart from him, he is his presence. His presence is him. We can do nothing. What does he mean by that? We can brush our teeth. We can pick a rock and skip it in a creek. What does it mean that apart from me you can do nothing? Well, Jesus says it is expedient for you that I go away. For if I go away, the comfort of the Holy Spirit will come to you. This is the Spirit of Jesus. He said I will come to you. The Holy Spirit will come to you. The comfort will come to you. And without him, without his presence, without his Spirit within us, all we have is doctrine. All we have is words. All we have is truth. All we have is some type of character, quality that Jesus had. All we have is self-effort. All we have is just carnal strife. You know, his doctrine, his words, his character, all these different things. You may wonder how could you separate these things from Jesus, David? Aren't these things that Jesus said and did who he is? I would say yeah. It is inseparable. It is inseparable. But many people are serving Jesus, going to church, raising families, teaching Bible studies, singing in the choir, singing in the pews, and doing all these things without the presence of Jesus. It's the presence of Jesus. It's the presence of Jesus that sets people free. It's the presence of Jesus that cures anxiety, that delivers us from our fears, that heals our diseases. It's the presence of Jesus that sets us free from depression, suicidal thoughts, hopelessness, despair. It's the presence of Jesus that drives out demons. Demons don't tremble at somebody that is proclaiming the words of Jesus. They tremble at his presence. Every me in heaven, on earth, and under the earth shall bow, and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord when he returns in his glory, when he manifests himself, when his presence is felt. We can experience that here. We can experience it now. But I don't want to live my life without the presence of Jesus. Right doctrine, sound doctrine, is important. But if you don't have the presence of Jesus, that's all you have. You don't have him. We need him. Apart from him, we can do nothing. May our chief pursuit in this life, each day, may it be to have Jesus. Not just some intellectual acknowledgement that the scripture is true, that it says that he that is joined to the Lord is one spirit with them, or that Christ in us the hope of glory. Not just, you know, we agree that this is true because the Bible says it. Oh, no, no, no, no. Because it's a tangible reality. It is something that we perceive. It is something that we experience. It is something that we feel. It is something that we are absolutely certain is true. It's true. I don't want to do anything without the presence of Jesus. I don't want to live my life without him. I don't want to just take his words with me wherever I go. And determined to be humble and meek and kind as he was and just really exert myself to do this. I want him. And if we have him, we have everything we need in this life. I'd rather be a homeless man underneath the bridge somewhere and have Jesus serve man in my whole life. I'd rather just have Jesus and let the consequences fall where they will. There's nothing more important than his presence. Apart from him, we can do nothing. The Lord bless you. ======================================================================== Video: https://sermonindex2.b-cdn.net/kwUfK1FxCIM.mp4 Source: https://sermonindex.net/speakers/david-valderrama/apart-from-me-you-can-do-nothing/ ========================================================================
