======================================================================== DEFERRED OBEDIENCE 2 - PART 4 by Joshua Daniel ======================================================================== Summary: The sermon emphasizes the importance of obeying God's will and taking responsibility for our actions, rather than putting off obedience and facing unintended consequences. Duration: 4:26 Topics: "Repentance", "Obedience" Scripture References: Proverbs 3:6, Isaiah 30:21, Joel 2:13, Luke 15:10, James 1:22 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ DESCRIPTION ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This sermon emphasizes the urgency of obeying God and saving souls around us without delay, highlighting the consequences of deferred obedience and the need for repentance. It calls for a broken spirit of repentance and a plea for God's mercy upon individuals and nations. The message stresses the importance of not waiting to act but to be proactive in spreading God's righteousness and love to all. The prayer seeks restoration and erasure of past wrongs, asking for God's blessing and guidance in being agents of change in the world. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CONTENT ------------------------------------------------------------------------ So while we are living in such a world around us, shall we wait only to collect a few crunched bones or smashed limbs in a plastic bag? No. We shall obey God and save souls to the right of us in the pews, to the left of us in the doorway of the church, and onto the street and the market. Deferred obedience will not bring us any good. May God help us. Let us pray. Loving Father, help us to take stock. How much evil we have done by deferred obedience. The lamb was snatched. The lamb was crunched. We picked up a few bones, and we went merrily along. Is that our history? Father, Father, have mercy upon us. I beseech you, have mercy upon the nations and this nation. We don't want to pick up fragments of blown up people and lost souls in plastic bags, nor those of our own children. We shall not defer obedience to our Lord. While the harlots and the publicans see the righteousness of God and repent, help us, Father, to have that broken spirit of repentance. And all the harm and the evil which our lives have begotten may be somehow erased. Oh, Lord, the years which the canker worm and the caterpillar and the foolishness of our heart have eaten, restore to us, we pray. In Jesus' holy name, amen.
