It highlights the role of prayer, repentance, and restitution in preparing hearts for revival, as seen through personal experiences and examples of revival breaking out. The speaker challenges the audience to prioritize holiness, clean consciences, and genuine revival over worldly distractions and superficial displays of faith. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CONTENT ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Let us pray. Good father, thine is the glory, the power, the kingdom. To us belongeth no glory at all. We want to decrease that you mightest increase. So draw near to us and let your presence permeate, saturate, and undergird this very place and speak to each heart in Jesus' almighty name. Now dear friends, as you know I have been requested to speak a few words to you and let me begin here. The first thing about revival is God working with us. So there are two parties here. One is the almighty God working through a lily potion, a little pygmy. That in itself is a most marvelous thing. But it is amazing that you will find these little pygmies quite unwilling to be indwelt, undergirded, overshadowed, and employed by the almighty hands of God. Now what is the condition of heart that is required for being an instrument in revival? Now I saw great brokenness in my parents and I saw them incessantly praying. My dad was a very practical person notwithstanding. He had his priorities and prayer occupied the topmost priority in both the schedules or schedules of my parents. And they filled the home with prayer and soon revival broke out. Now my dad cried for my conversion. So there was family revival one afternoon. I saw my sisters repenting, first the youngest and then the next. And soon I was gripped by the spirit of God's convicting power. I could not go to my cricket club. All my sins were coming before me and the Lord Jesus met me. It was Calvary's love that broke me. There at the cross my heart was given to the Lord and that was it. He won my heart. I fell in love with Jesus and never fell out of love. So as a boy of 15 I started my prayer life and soon I was introduced to the revival which had broken out in my father's ministry. And in this ministry as I went to the first campaign that I ever witnessed in this revival I saw men shivering, quaking and they could not hide their sins. Strong men, stubborn men, proud men, all kinds, theologians, all sorts of people. Now there would be confession, repentance of course and restitution accompanied by the Spirit's assurance. Now when I started first preaching in Europe as a boy I found that repentance and restitution had just been bypassed. With the result I saw a very weak kind of Christianity satisfied with its own activities. And in fact I said to the Lord, Lord why did you bring me here? These people don't seem to want revival at all. They are perfectly satisfied with the status quo. Now as I cried to God people began to break down and a visit followed to North Uist in the Hebrides where I was warned, no you cannot push a highland man. They are dour and stubborn men. Well I said pushing and pulling is not my business but I have seen in revival that people are freed from their addictions and you say now everybody here smokes, the pastors, leaders, everybody smokes. I find that incompatible with the true work of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit wants holiness and the temple to be undefiled. Well in three days time people were breaking their pipes and burning their tobacco and those wonderful girls who helped me, the assistants of brother Duncan Campbell, they were then called Mary and Miss Wilson. Now Mary of course is Mrs. Peckham. However they said to me the Lord has come meaning revival has broken out. In fact I had to interrupt some of my meetings in Ireland to return to this location in the Hebrides in order to continue the work for a few more days. Now missionaries and really dedicated people arose out of that revival. Now my dear friends exposure to revival made my heart burn. I had to be of a broken spirit to be usable at all by God. The unfortunate thing today is that we have surrounded ourselves with a lot of fig leaves and all the fashions of the world and we lost the heart of the matter. You know when the Lord suddenly comes to his temple, which should be a normal occurrence, there will be brokenness of heart and that you will find in the pulpit. An unbroken pulpit guarantees a worldly church. So we have got today a large conglomeration of all kinds of people who imagine that they are even believers, which they are not. They don't even have a clean conscience. I have noticed that the conscience has never been stressed over the decades and over almost a century of preaching. Well you know my dear friends when the Spirit of God is at work, there is an awakening. First an awakened person, then follows a convicted person, then comes a converted person. Now we have as soon as a person appears to open his eyes and then there is a little semblance of an awakening, we see people all aglow with excitement. Oh wonderful things are happening. Nothing is happening. This awakened person has got to get right with God and his neighbor. He has got to get a clean conscience. He has got to return back taxes. He has got to put things right with his wife and family. Now when that does not happen, you have a very unreal situation. A situation which is anything but revival. Now what is under attack most? It's the family. The family altar is down. Now it takes a father and a mother who will find time every day to pray together, to have one heart, to be so united that they can cry, hallowed be your name. Now that's a constant cry in the heart of a truly converted person. It's not just for Sunday morning. Hallowed be your name. Now do you know that I'm a person given to much sorrow? I feel I am not hallowing the name of the Lord Jesus. Look at our world at large. Look at the chaos and the confusion. Look at the wreckage of families. Look at the pursuit of money. Look at the way men have given themselves to all manner of despicable lusts and animal passions which have completely outweighed normal balanced thinking. At such a time I find people are playing with revival. I find that people are just talking about revival. They're talking through their hats. They don't mean business. Do you? I do trust you are here at this conference simply because you want to hallow the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and you want to rend your own heart and not your garments. Outward displays should be just put out. We've no time for them. And today we are all about the color of the carpet and the color of the curtain and the committee to sit over money collection. Do you know that I have never had a single finance committee? My finance committee consists of God the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. He is the supplier. He knows what is needed for revival. He knows what is needed for my heart. My belly is not the first thing today. Think of some of our preachers after they have done preaching. They must retire, have a sauna or a massage, and then they must have the finest of dinners. I'm not against your dining well. Eat healthy. But if you're going to be given to these kind of frivolities, let me tell you, this is the very last subject about which you should be talking. This is a matter of life and death. Oh, breath of God, come sweeping through us. Oh, wind of God, come renew. Restore these dry bones. Let there be reality. Let there be truth. Let the spirit of truth have sway. And let there be a mighty army, treading, advancing, never retreating as men that walk on resurrection ground. He is the resurrection and the life. So may God bless you. Let us pray. Breathe upon us, Heavenly Father. Help us to put away all our tin and tinsel. Let us mean business and reach every creature and hallow your holy name. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. ======================================================================== Video: https://sermonindex2.b-cdn.net/OZPUW5o 3QY.mp4 Source: https://sermonindex.net/speakers/joshua-daniel/revival-conference-2008-joshua-daniel/ ========================================================================
