======================================================================== SIN - SALVATION - PROVERBS by Milton Green ======================================================================== Summary: The sermon emphasizes the importance of understanding sin, the consequences of sin, and the wisdom of God, and how obedience to God's law leads to life and blessings. Duration: 15:49 Topics: "Sin And Salvation", "Godly Wisdom" ------------------------------------------------------------------------ DESCRIPTION ------------------------------------------------------------------------ In this sermon, the preacher emphasizes the importance of not being deceived by false teachings and distractions. He warns against being entertained by pastors who only provide superficial sermons and fail to address the true nature of sin and rebellion. The preacher references Proverbs to illustrate the consequences of following the path of the naive and lacking understanding, which leads to destruction and being in the depths of hell. He contrasts this with the wisdom of Jesus, who offers true understanding through his teachings and the covenant of salvation. The preacher urges listeners to treasure God's commandments and live according to his word, rather than being consumed by selfish desires and worldly ambitions. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CONTENT ------------------------------------------------------------------------ See, folks, listen, we learn to say we're saved. Saved from what? We learn to say, well, I repent of my sins. What is sin? Don't even know what sin is. Sin's when I go to a beer joint or I'm a homosexual. We learn to say these words in a religious language and don't even know what they mean. Sin is breaking the commandments of God's law. That's what sin is. And that's the reason it can't be explained and defined what sin is, because it tears down all the theology. When you start defining what holiness and righteousness and what the powers and argues are working in, what sin is, it messes up all the theology and it's better to change the word of God than it is to something that's captured your heart. Like doctrines that do not conform you to Godliness. Honey, there's over 400 teachings and doctors in this country. I hope you, and we sit around asleep and don't realize that somebody's got to be wrong. And then what's happening today is the grace of God's moving in. People have been taught all our life to be bored by the word of God. Hear a little sermonette for Christianettes. The clock strikes 12 and the dead arise. You know, the powers of darkness start attacking you. Look here. The powers of darkness start attacking you. They'll sit there over 20 minutes. Give me two scriptures and tell me some nice stories, pastor. And then a pastor entertains you because he wants to be an idol in your heart. He pulls out good things and tell you how righteous you are and you stiff-necked, stubborn, and hellish rebellion. While hell and demons are eating you up while you sit in a pew. Let's just see how, can you hold all these places? Turn with me to Proverbs. I'm going to show it to you as we come to it right there. And when God says look at it, we're going to look at it. I tell you what, you can just let Galatians go, but you keep holding on to Matthew 5 and Deuteronomy 6. We're going to Proverbs here in a minute. I want you to turn to Proverbs 5. All right, now let's just see there. We're in Proverbs 5, okay? Here we go. For the lips of a what? Now let's just stop here just a minute. Let me just have you to understand what adulterous is. Now just start and look at me up here. Adulterous is someone that comes into a form of godliness, and over here they bless God, and they go over here, and they curse their neighbor. They still alter the nature and character of Satan. If you're led by the Spirit of God, you're going to overcome it. See, when you practice these things, it proves you're not being led by the Spirit of God, or you'd put it to death. And number two, it proves you're not walking in peace. Amen? You don't have peace. So then that's what it says. This wisdom, not that which comes from above. Before you come here and bless God, I love you, God, and then come over here in anger and unforgiveness and resentment and criticism and everything toward your neighbor. Amen? Are you hearing what I'm saying? Now see, that's the way we've been taught to walk. James 4.4 said that you are adulterous. Do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? If you wish to be a friend of the world, in other words, you're going to kill them with their gossip and unforgiveness and slander. You're going to speak these curses like this. You make yourself a friend of the world, you are the enemy of God. You whore, you harlot, you're adulterous, you're not the bride of Christ. This word, this wisdom doesn't come from above, but it's worldly. It's the way the world walks and talks. It's fleshly. Prepare to God, you're led by the Spirit of God. It puts you to death. It's fleshly, natural, and it's all your lesson in being led by the demonic. You're still listening to these demons of unforgiveness, hatred, and criticism. You're not taking every thought that catches you to the beat of your shoes. Are you hearing what I'm saying? I said, you're adulterous. Now, that's the ones who lead you in the form of godliness and they deny the power of God. How do you deny the power of God? You're born again through the Word of God. Amen? The Word of God warms your heart. Amen? So you have a pure heart and fulfill God's will through Christ. Amen? There's no other way to do it. Now, let's just look there, let's look at this adulterous, impoverished fact. My son, give attention to my wisdom. You know what wisdom is? Jesus is our wisdom. The Word is wisdom. Isn't that right? Incline here to my understanding that you may have deserved discretion and your lips may reserve knowledge. For the lips, that's the mouth of adulterous, whore, harlot church. They drip honey. And smoother is all is their speech because they'll lead you in fleshly achievements and boast in you and tell you how great and sweet you are in your stiff-necked, stubborn rebellion. But in the end, she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death because they lead you into the flesh and to walk into the flesh is death. Her steps lay hold of shield. She does not ponder the path of life. Her ways are unstable and she doesn't even know it. Is that the way it is today, folks? They're walking the walk of death and don't even know it. Being burned up and destroyed by the powers of darkness just like a moth eating away at rottenness and don't even know it. Now then, my sons, listen to me and do not depart from the words of my mouth. Keep your way far from her and do not go near the door of her house. It's a distorted gospel. And if you do go there and become a part of it, lest you give your vigors to others and your years to who? I can't hear you. Wonder who that cruel one is. That's the powers of darkness. When you go in and walk with a harlot right there who's an obeying to God, see, that's another gospel and another Jesus. And you give your years to a cruel one because she leads you, adulterous leads you after the things that breaks God's law and the powers of darkness, that cruel one can come in and destroy you. Sickness, disease. Are you hearing what I'm saying? Torment and hell. It's what we've been living in. Now, verse 10. Lest strangers be filled with your strength. That's them. They steal your strength. And your hard-earned goods go to the house of an alien. And you're grown at your latter end. See, your days are not prolonged. Are you hearing what I'm saying? You're wiped off the face of the earth when your flesh and your body are consumed. Are you hearing what I'm saying? And you have to admit, you're going to have to say in your heart, you're going to have to say, how I have hated instruction and my heart has spurned what? Proof. See, look here. The adulteress, listen to me, folks. Look at me. The adulteress shows you a way in. She shows you a way to heaven where you don't have to take up your cross. She uses all the Bible, but she leaves out the parts. It's disciplinary proof. You don't have to take up your cross. You don't have to die. They show you another way into heaven. That's the adulteress. Jesus said anyone that loves his life is going to lose it. But whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel, he's the one that's going to save it. You have to give up selfish ambition. The harlot tells you not to do that. So that's the reason the form of God has had lovers of self, lovers of money, unholy, ungodly, disobedient to parents and all the things that breaks God's love. And then you say, when your flesh and your body is consumed, you're going to have to admit and say, I've hated instruction, and my heart has spurned reproof and discipline. Verse 14, I was almost an utter ruin, wrapped in the middle of the assembly and the congregation. You see it? This is what we find in ourselves. Look at verse 21. For the ways of a man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he watches all his paths. His own iniquities are going to capture, will capture the wicked. In other words, you know the righteous, look at me, folks. The righteous judgment of God, by your standard of measure, it's going to be measured. When you walk on that stuff, you get captured. When you obey God, he's got a hedge around you, and you walk in peace. Because when you walk in God's way, you walk in love. When you walk in a harlot's way, you walk in double-minded. The double-minded person will receive nothing from God. So the most amazing thing, folks, there's a whole new Bible right here. And I want to tell you something, beloved. I don't care where you come from, the Lord will show it to you. You get your eyes and heart off of men. Now that doesn't mean that we don't have authority and everything, spiritual authority. But you're going to recognize authority. You don't submit to a man just because he goes by the name of evangelist or pastor or teacher and everything. He's someone that's walking and going the way of the Word. Amen? That's how you submit. Now, "...and his own liturgy will capture the wicked," verse 22, "...and he'll be helped with the cords of his sin." Are you seeing how that happens? That's the law of God. "...he will die for lack of instruction, and in the greatness of his folly, he will go astray." Let's look in chapter 8. Here's Jesus. Jesus is wisdom in here. Do you know Jesus is wisdom? Okay. Verse 34, chapter 8, 34, "...blessed is the man who listens to me and watches daily at my gates." He's waiting at my doorpost. In other words, he's listening for the Lord. Folks, when you get your mind on the Lord, he's always got something good to say. Verse 35, "...for he who finds me," Jesus says, "...finds life, and he obtains favor or blessings from the Lord. But he who sins against me," if you sin against the Lord, what does it say happens to you? You injure yourself because you break the commandments of God's law, righteous judgment, and then a hedge comes down, the power of darkness moves in, and then you get wounded. Is that what your Bible says? "...and those who hate me," what do they do? Love death. In other words, the ones who do not obey the commandments of God through Christ hate death. I mean, they love death instead of life. Is that true? Now, look what Jesus says right here. Wisdom, that's Jesus. Verse 1, chapter 9, verse 1, "...has built her house." She has hewn out her seven pillars. She's prepared her food. Where you prepare your food, put the word there. She has mixed her wine. The wine is a teaching that you drink. We take a teaching, you drink it by taking it to heart. She has also set her table. That's Jesus has set his table. Now, we've got the word teaching and the table is covenant. She has sent out her maidens. That's the body of Christ. Now, we've got the word teaching, covenant, and the body of Christ, Jesus. And what these maidens, this body of Christ does, she calls from the top of the heights of the city, whoever's naive, let him turn in here. He who lacks understanding, spiritual understanding, she says, in other words, turn in here. Jesus says, come eat of my food, the word of God. Come drink of the wine, my teaching I've mixed. Forsake your folly, eliminate the nature and character of Satan, and live, repent, and proceed in the way of wisdom of God, which is a way of understanding. See, you're walking out the wisdom of the world, you're getting destroyed. Verse 7, he said, he who corrects a scopper, a scopper is someone who loves a character and nature of Satan, he gets dishonor for himself. And he who reproves a wicked man gets insult for himself. Do not reprove a scopper, lest he'll hate you. You reprove somebody that walks out of the flesh, and they'll turn around and hit back. But you reprove now a wise man, and he'll love you. You know why? A wise man knows he doesn't want any strongholds in his life. And see, let me tell you something, folks. I've got a lot more discernment about you than I have about myself. I need other parts of the body of Christ to help discern some things I'm blind to in my own life. Amen? But we do it in a loving way to come and help one another. We don't condemn one another. When you're showing somebody a speck, you've got to remember your own logs. Amen? Give instruction to a wise man, and he'll be wiser. Teach a righteous man, and he'll increase in learning. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Now, folks, are we understanding what the fear of God is? And we didn't understand it before because we just sleep. Is that correct? And the knowledge of Jesus is what? The Holy One is understanding. For by me your days will be multiplied, and years of life will be added to you. In other words, you won't be destroyed by the curse. Amen? Now, verse 13, the woman of folly, there she is at the adultery, is boisterous. She is naive and knows nothing, ever learning and never able to come. The knowledge of the truth. She sits at the doorway of her house, that's a harlot church, on the seat by the high places, that's the corner towers of the city, calling to those who pass by, who are making their path straight, who are trying to walk with God. They say, whoever's naive, come in here. If you need understanding, come in here. And to him who lacks understanding, she says, stolen water is sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. You know, you can just pick and choose to it. Verse 18, but this man does not know that the who are there. The dead are sitting in that house, right there, folks. Are you all seeing this? The dead are sitting there, and her guests are in the depths of hell. Heal. Does this make this thing a little serious, folks? Huh? Back up to 7. Verse 1, My son, keep my words and treasure my what? You better treasure my commandments within you. Keep my commandments and what? Is that what we've been talking about, keep my commandments and live? And my teaching is the apple of your eye. Verse 5, 3, verse 5, that they may keep you from who? You have to stay away from adulterous, lawlessness and righteousness, cannot walk together. That it'll keep you from the adulterous, from the foreigner that abats the world, who flatters with the words, and both walk and talk the same way. See, when people have pride and selfish ambition, they flatter you for the sake of gaining an advantage. They don't know in their deceived heart they think they're helping God out.
