Let's pray, Lord Jesus. I just pray you would open up the Scriptures to us, Lord, that each of us would be able to take something from the Word, that you would speak to us, not by man, not by the will of man, but by the will of God through your Spirit, that we would receive the Word by faith that it would germinate and produce, in Jesus' name, amen. Brother shared about overcoming by the blood of the Lamb and by the Word of our testimony, and he shared the emphasis of confessing with the mouth, and I want to share the emphasis of believing in the heart. It's one thing to confess, but it's another thing to believe in the heart, and we need both. It's like a train traveling on two tracks. We have to worship in spirit and in the truth, so the spirit testifies that it's a finished work in Christ, but the truth of the matter is, is it real in your life? Have you received it by faith? We go up to the creek, and there's countless guys that confess the blood of Jesus with their mouth, but it's not real in their life, because their life does not testify or confess. It says everyone who comes confessing Jesus Christ has come in the flesh of God, and we can confess with our mouth, but the other part of confession is believing in the heart by faith, and so the word confession is to speak the same as Jesus. It says they are of the world, therefore they speak as the world, or they confess just like the world, but we're of God, and therefore we confess Jesus Christ is coming in the flesh. Can you say that as he is, so are we in this world? Can you say that's real? Can you confess that's real in your life? As he is, so are we in this world. If we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus, then we have to say, as he is, so are we in this world. Anyone who desires to come after Jesus must also confess just as he confessed, walk just as Jesus walked. So the truth is that Jesus paid the penalty for sin, and the shed blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin, but now has it become real for you? Are you washed in the blood? Can you testify? Can you testify? And they overcame him, who, the devil, by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony. Can you testify it's real in your life? This is also a big part of knowing him, to know him, the power of his resurrection, and as Brother David shared, the fellowship of his sufferings. Did you know that it's a righteous thing that God would afflict us with sufferings? There's a treasure in sufferings. When Jesus was going to go to the cross, these two brothers came to Jesus with the mother and said, can you grant that my brothers, my sons, would sit one on the left hand and one on the right hand in your kingdom? And he said, it's not for me to give these things. But he said, are you prepared to drink the cup? When Jesus shed his blood for our sins, he also made it a mandatory requirement that we would also suffer with him. Anyone who desires to live godly in Christ Jesus is going to suffer persecution. Now there's different levels of persecution. You're going to be rejected at your job but chosen by God and precious, not because you're rebellious to your boss, but because you believe in Jesus and you stand for the word of God. You're going to be rejected by the world when you're at your workplace because they're going out partying, they're going out on the weekend, they want you to come for drinks, and you're being set apart and you'll be spoken of, gossiped about, talked about. You'll be peculiar, a peculiar people, like a speckled bird that is pecked on by the other birds because you're different. Are you willing to drink the cup? Yes, we're willing to drink the cup. He said, you will drink the cup, but to sit on my right and my left is not for me to grant. It's for those for whom it is prepared. Do you have a desire to sit at the Lord's right hand or at his left? Do you want to be so close to Jesus? Then you have to be prepared to drink the cup of suffering. If we suffer with him, what does the word of God say? We're going to reign with him. But we don't want to suffer. Flesh does not want to suffer. We want to relax. We want things to go smooth. We don't want everything to break down. We don't want people to accuse us or mock us or make fun of us or beat us up or cast us out. He said, the time is coming when you're going to be in a fellowship gathering and they're going to cast you out of their church because you're a genuine believer. Because you believe not only in confessing the blood of Jesus, but actually having the blood applied in your life, as Brother Lean shared. When the blood is applied, you're whiter than snow. Having it sitting in the basin, if it's not dipped in the lowly hyssop and applied in your life, that blood does you no good. The blood is enough, but it must be applied. To confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus and to believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the mouth confession is made. I believe in Jesus and it is with the heart one believes under righteousness. This faith has to have legs. We have to be able to walk worthy of the calling to which we've been called. I want to read something in 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, starting in verse 3. 2 Thessalonians 1 verse 3, we are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly and the love for everyone, every one of you all abounds towards each other. Can we say that? If the blood of Jesus is applied in your life, your faith in Jesus Christ is going to grow exceedingly because you are receiving your life from Emmanuel's veins. His blood flows through you. And so you are becoming more and more like him. You are growing in grace and in knowledge of Jesus and that faith that you walk in is becoming more and more evident. And the love is becoming more and more evident. As you're growing in faith, you're growing in love for Jesus and you're growing in love for people. Are you growing in faith and are you growing in love? This is a test. This is what brother Paul shares. He says your faith grows exceedingly and the love for everyone of the brethren abounds abundantly. The scripture also says that you'll know that you're Christians. People will know those are Christians because of their love that they have one for another. This is how the world is going to know that we're different. We're not going to have camaraderie like the firemen do with firemen or the policeman with the policeman or the people who are part of a gang or a club have loyalty to one another. Our love for the brethren has to grow exceedingly and our faith has to grow in the Lord Jesus Christ. And it needs to abound and people need to be able to see this testimony in your life so that we ourselves, most of you, Paul is saying, I'm so encouraged of this church in Thessalonica because their love for one another is growing and their faith is manifesting. It's growing. It's growing legs. I can see them growing and becoming strong trees and pillars. He says, we're boasting among you, among all the other churches, because you have endurance. You have patience, patient endurance, your faith in all persecution and tribulation that you're enduring for. What does it say? It is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God for which you suffer. If you are walking in the in the faith and the blood is applied in your life, then you can say with confidence that everyone who confesses Jesus is coming in the flesh of God. If we suffer with him, we shall also reign with him. If we endure. And so if you're in Christ, you're a new creation, all things are passing away and everything's becoming new. And now you are a speckled bird in the kingdom of God and you have to count it worthy to suffer because God says it's a worthy thing to repay or to pay us with tribulation and sufferings. Because if we don't suffer with him, we're not going to be glorified with Jesus. It is important that we become glorified. This is the mystery of the gospel, to be glorified with Jesus Christ in you, the hope of glory. Last week there was a new guest that came and all of a sudden she made this comment, you're radiant, you are glowing. When Sean saw my brother Jason coming from the hospital and came into the room, he said, you are glowing, you are radiant. Our faces ought to be radiant and not ashamed. The world ought to see Jesus on our faces. This is Christ in you, the hope of glory, that people can see Jesus on our faces. That in the midst of sufferings, we don't have the long faces, that after we suffer for a while, he strengthens us, establishes us, settles us, perfects us in him. And don't think it's strange, it says in 1 Peter 4 in verse 12, concerning the fiery trials that come to try you, as though some strange thing or event is happening to you as believers. Don't let the flesh deceive you, but this is the normal Christian life. Because if we don't suffer now, then what will be the end of those? If the righteous are scarcely saved, how are they saved? Through the fire. We are saved through the fire. It says, 8 were saved through water, a type of baptism, in which the divine long-suffering waited for them to suffer with building this boat. And now he said there's a type of baptism which now saves us. This type of water baptism, but he talks about a greater baptism than the water baptism. There's one baptism with two parts, is being saved so as through fire. Are you being saved so as through fire? Don't think it's strange concerning these fiery trials that are trying you. The fire is necessary to test what sort of a Christian you are. You claim the blood applies. Then the fire has to come to it and see whether it can stand the test of fire. Or are you one of those fair-weather Christians that as soon as a fiery trial comes, you fold like a cheap tent. As soon as the fiery trial comes, your joy goes somewhere. As soon as sufferings and hard times come, you run for the hills. We have a better hope than that, brothers. Having done all to stand, what does it say? Stand therefore. We're to resist the fiery darts of the enemy holding up the shield of faith. Let your faith become evident. When the fiery trials come and people say all kinds of things and brothers say all kinds of things like Job's friends and others say all kinds of things and some of them even do you physical harm or financial harm, stand steadfast in the word of God and prove that you're in the faith. Prove that the blood is applied. Prove that you're a Christian because you believe from the heart in the resurrection from the dead. Our hope is not in the things that we possess in this world. Our hope is in the Lord Jesus Christ. Why are you discouraged? Why do you have a long face? Oh, downcast, oh my soul, why are you disheartened? Put your hope in God. Why are you discouraged? Oh, I don't have a place to hang my head. The Son of Man had nowhere to lay his head, yet he had peace and joy. Can we expect more than him? Foxes have holes, the birds of the air have nests. I like to have a nest, you like to have a nest. We want to provide for our family, but in all things to be content, to learn that brother, as Brother David shared, with much or with little, contentment with godliness. This is great gain. We came with nothing into this world and when we check out, we are not leaving with anything. So a man plans his way, but God orchestrates our steps. So if we set our hope in this place and seeking to build a kingdom in this place, when the rug gets pulled out, and it will get pulled out, not just on the just, but on the unjust alike, where your hope lies, that is where you will end up. The scripture says, where a tree falls, that's where it will lie. And if we are crucified with Christ, then we're in a casket already. And you know what? We're not going to be moved by such things as this. May the Lord help us to become strengthened in the inner man, so that we're not soon shaken in mind or troubled if we think the day of the Lord has come. Because it hasn't come unless the falling away comes first and the man of sin is revealed. Brother, touch briefly on this. Who is this man of sin? Is it the Lord strong and mighty or is it the flesh? Come on brothers. He sits as God in the temple of God and he exalts himself. You know what? I'm the boss here. I can do what I want. I'm not going to suffer. You're going to suffer. We're going to get in a business deal and you know what? I'm going to come out with the last five cents, not you. Because it's about principle. You know what? We're going to go in. I'm going to sell a car to you. I'm going to come out on top. I'm going to get the best deal, not you. When you become a Christian, you start to realize that you're always getting the short end of the stick and God has appointed it for us to have that now. So that we learn to be content with Him, not with getting ahead or not with having the biggest straw, not with getting the best deal and not with boasting in what the world boasts in. The man of sin has to be manifested. The lawless one has to be revealed. Whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and the brightness of His coming. This is the mystery of lawlessness, which is already at work and there'll be a fullness of it. But the mystery of godliness, brothers, Christ in you, the hope of glory. We don't... We have... Eye hasn't yet seen nor ear heard nor entered into the heart of man all those riches that are in Christ. The things that God has prepared for those who love Him. But he said, Paul says, God hath revealed them to us by His Spirit. We can know the greater riches that are in Christ. The mystery of the gospel. Christ in you. The hope of glory, which is manifest evidence. 2 Thessalonians 1 5 of the righteous judgment of God that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God for which you suffer. For it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels and flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. If you're not willing to suffer with Him and you're going to be one of those who persecutes maybe even in the church, those speckled birds that sit among you, oh, you think you're holier than the rest of us, huh? Oh, you think that you're going to attain to some more righteousness? We have the blood of Jesus. You think you're going to try and work your way to heaven? We're not saved by works, brother, it's a finished work. And all of a sudden they're pecking away at the ones that God is allowing to suffer. And all of a sudden they are all of a sudden being afflicted. Because it's a righteous thing with God to afflict those who persecute you. It happens among brothers, it also happens among unbelievers. Those who do not know God and those who do not put into practice the blood of Jesus Christ in their life. Those who do not allow the blood of Jesus Christ to be applied in their life. Those who do not walk by faith and persist in the faith. These ones, when they suffer, they're not suffering as Christians, they're going to suffer because God has afflicted them to suffer. These, it says in verse 9, shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his power. I think of two that got punishment for that, Ananias and Sapphira. They were two who suffered punishment because they were pretenders. They were pretenders of being wholehearted, they were pretenders of giving all, but they were holding back some and they, when the glory of God was present and the power of God was present, then the judgment was swift. And you say, well that was for then. Jesus is the same then as he is now. And if his glory manifests in a gathering or in a place or among a people, that same glory will result in the same judgment. It says this, verse 5, for when he comes in that day to be glorified, where, in his saints and to be admired among all those who believe among our testimony, among you who believe. Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this call. Worthy to suffer with Christ. Are you worthy to suffer with him? Can you drink his cup? Are you prepared to go all the way with Jesus to enter into the richness of that glory which is to be revealed, where? In his saints. That the power, his power and his glory may be manifested in our life. These are the deeper things of God. Are we prepared to go into the deeper things of God or are we just happy to camp at Elam where there's, you know, 12 pools and 70 palms? Brothers, sisters, let's press on. Let's not stay in the wilderness in a place of comfort and of ease. We enjoy those times in our life, but yet we keep going because there's more. God has an inheritance for us. And it's not just the land that Joshua gave them and where they found rest, because if Joshua had given them rest, he wouldn't have spoken of another day saying today, if you hear his voice, then don't harden your heart. Go through with God, obey the convictions of your conscience, obey the convictions of the Holy Spirit and enter into the treasure of suffering with Christ and see what God will do as the glories follow. The life that's in Jesus is greater riches than all that's in the world. All that glitters in this world is not gold, brothers, but there's a glory that is greater than the gold that passes away, that comes through the testing of fire. It's your faith being much more precious than gold, which perishes. Let your faith be tested and refined. Let your faith grow into roots and become a pillar in the church, a pillar in the faith. Let it become like an oak of Bashan, become like one of those cedars, strong cedars that can stand the fiercest winds of life and doesn't buckle and fall over and become disillusioned with the church and disillusioned with Christ while they lay there in bondage to sin again. Brothers, we have a better endurance and a better hope than that. We are not of them that shrink back to destruction, brothers, but of them that continue to press on to persevere to the saving of what? The soul. We shared last week there's a war going on for the soul. The flesh is lusting and it's battling and it's hostile against the spirit and the spirit is seeking to overcome the flesh and put him to death. And so there's this war, this tug of war for the soul. And so brothers, we have to reckon ourselves dead to sin and alive to God. Brothers, we're not debtors to the flesh in Romans 8, 12, to live according to the flesh. We've died. Our life is now hidden with Christ in God and when Christ who is our life appears, where is he going to appear? In us. Then we also shall appear with him where? In glory. In glory. When Christ who is our life appears, we also shall appear with him in glory. Christ our life, the hope of glory, not glory out there somewhere, glory here in this tent we groan, being burdened. Not that we should be unclothed, but further clothed with the righteousness that is in Christ. There's the blood of Christ that makes us righteous, but there's a further clothing of the righteousness of Christ, the sufferings of Christ and the glories that follow. The treasures of brokenness. If we look in 1 Peter in chapter 4, verse 17, no flesh wants to suffer. So we cannot listen to the flesh. The flesh will never want to suffer. It will always fight you. You'll always have a battle in the flesh. The flesh will not die. You need to reckon yourself dead to the flesh and alive to God. In 1 Peter in chapter 4, verse 17, the scripture says this, for now is the time for judgment to begin at the house of God. And we read this in 1 Thessalonians, that it's a righteous thing that the Lord would grant us to suffer with him. It's a righteous thing that if we endure suffering, if we endure hardship as good soldiers, then he can entrust us with all the riches that are in Christ. These riches are his special treasure. Those jewels that he wants to give you for your crown so that you can cast it at Jesus' feet and boast in Christ and Christ alone. What does he say here? Verse 16, if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed. Let him glorify God in this manner. For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God. And if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? Now, if the righteous one is scarcely saved, we said saved so as through fire from 1 Corinthians 3, where will the ungodly and the sinner appear? Brothers, sisters, don't think it's strange concerning the trials that come in life. They're not easy. But if you'll humble yourself and you will allow yourself to be broken rather than fight against God, allow yourself to become subdued by the ways of God, then you can become conformed into the image of Christ so that his glory might be revealed. If we suffer with him, we're going to reign with him. We want to reign in righteousness. When are we going to reign in righteousness? We want to reign with him now. We don't want to reign in shame. How are we going to reign in shame? Just claiming the blood of Jesus, just claiming the promises while we're practicing sin. Oh, I am the righteousness of God, as these guys many times confess. They confess with their mouth, Lord Jesus, but they have not followed the train tracks that say that they believe in their heart that as he is, so am I in this world. They cannot confess that. They confess as of the world, they speak as of the world, they practice sin as the world, yet they claim Jesus is Lord. You can say Jesus is Lord while you're blue in the face, even the demons believe and tremble if it's not real in your life. I was always confused by that. To confess is to speak the same as, do a little study on it, to speak the same as Jesus. It's not just enough to honor him with our lips while our hearts are far from him. Our lips and our hearts have to agree. How can two walk together with Christ unless they're agreed? With the heart one believes under righteousness, with the mouth confession is made under salvation, but our heart has to believe under righteousness. Means we have to put into practice by faith that we believe what the word of God says. Let's close by looking at 1 Corinthians in chapter 3. There's division among the Corinthians because they're carnal. A lot of people today are carnal Christians. And if you stay a carnal Christian, you're in big, big trouble. We might start off carnal, but we can't remain carnal. Just as a babe is carnal when they come into the world and they have to learn to walk in a manner pleasing to the Lord and they have to grow up into maturity into the head, which is Christ, Paul is exhorting these brothers to continue to press on. He goes on in verse 11, I'll skip the first part, but he says this. No other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. And he says in 10, as a wise master builder, Paul says, I laid the foundation. Laying that foundation is confessing that Jesus is the Christ. That's where you start the cornerstone. Jesus is the Christ. There's no one can be saved but by him. No one can come to the Father but by Jesus. You have to have this revelation. It's not by Buddha or Muhammad or some reincarnation. It's not if you're going to be a good person. It's not if you do lots of works and you knock on a lot of doors that you're going to become a Christian. You have to confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus. And so this is the foundation which is laid. This is the cornerstone that has to come in. But that's the beginning. That's the beginning of the matter. I laid the foundation and he says in verse 10, another builds on it. You are God's building. You are God's field and you are God's house. We are the house of God. No longer are we going to worship in temples made with hands. That took me a while to figure out when they kicked me out of church and I lost my membership. I was so discouraged. I says here I've never been more zealous and on fire for Jesus and now I don't fit in even the church. What hope is there for me? And I laid on the floor weeping and the spirit said why are you weeping? Get off your face. You've missed it. And I said what what what and then the Lord just began to take me through some scriptures and I began to read some things and some brothers spoken in my life and I began to embrace this that the church is the people, church is not the building. Church is not the denomination. The church is built and centered around Christ. He's the cornerstone and the capstone and where two or three get together even David Wilkerson confirmed this in one of his messages that helped me where two or three get together in my name I am in the midst and so you can have a one genuine brother, one genuine sister and find fellowship in Christ. That's the church. Sometimes we've been in a coffee shop and some of the best fellowship has not been here in this gathering. It's been around a coffee or around a time of fellowship with a person who's hungry for more of Jesus and we need to have this revelation that you are God's building and you are God's house and when Jesus comes to set his foot in Jerusalem and they're going to rebuild the temple if they rebuild that thing with wood and hay and stones and whatever however they want to build it Jesus isn't coming over there. He's not coming to a man-made temple anymore. Solomon's temple in all its glory was not anywhere close to the glory of that temple that was made in Zechariah's day where he said how does it look now and you're seeing and he says looks like nothing he said yet the glory of the latter house shall be greater than the glory of the former house whose house brother sister you are. You are that house. He goes on here to confirm it. You are the temple of the living God. As he says here no one builds on this if now if anyone builds on this foundation this is your life with gold silver precious stones these are imperishable things that stand the test of fire to be refined in the fire or if anyone builds in your life with carnal doctrines worldly teachings doctrines of men wood hay and straw it says each one's work will become clear because the day will declare it it will be revealed by fire and the fire will test each one's work the fire is going to test your life the fire is going to test your faith the fire is going to test your doctrine to see what sort it is and if anyone's work which he has built on that house endures he will receive award but if anyone's work is burned he will suffer loss yet he himself will be saved yet so is through fire. You can have a genuine brother pastor elder prophet sharing is very sincere sharing in people's life but having been misguided with some of the demonic doctrines that coming out of some of these Bible schools now and the wrong person is going to receive that and take it that doctrine that damnable eternal security doctrine and tell people that you're eternally secure the fellow who's ministering that thing might be all hearted for Jesus but he had this this damnable doctrine he himself will be saved because he's willing to suffer with Christ but the people that he's building this doctrine into their lives are living carnal and worldly and these people are perishing he's going to suffer tremendous loss even though he himself might be saved because he's obedient to the word to live according to this book we have to have the truth brothers sisters because it's the truth that's going to make us free and the fire is going to test your doctrine it's going to test your life because if you're living according to the doctrine and you have liberty and it's in the flesh then you're going to suffer harm you're going to suffer many things if you love the world and the things in it but if you have the good doctrine of the Lord Jesus Christ and you're going to be counted worthy to suffer all these things for the name of Christ blessed are you blessed are you for his hope and his glory rests upon you may the Lord give you understanding in these things I see this doctrine everywhere we go oh you can eat of that fruit God said you can't eat it in his word but you surely shall not die this is where this dominable doctrine came from you surely shall not die and the woman received the word and it says in the last days the falling away is not going to come unless the manner of lawlessness revealed and it says God will give these people a strong delusion that they should believe the lie what lie you don't need to obey what God's word says you're eternally secure you're good doesn't matter what God's word says God is love God is forgiving God is merciful he'll accept you come as you are and stay as you are and if perhaps you can change a bit praise God but never doubt the finished work of Christ never doubt the blood without telling you that you need to have the blood applied as brother Eileen shared the blood has to be applied we need to walk worthy of the calling brothers we need to apply those things that the Word of God has said by faith and through his spirit otherwise we'll never be Christians we'll be religious and at the end of it all all everything will be burned up and what will we have but if we walk according to the Word of God we are going to have an everlasting entrance for us there'll be a grand entrance for us a highway of holiness where we have been diligent to add to our faith virtue knowledge self-control and brotherly kindness and love and all these things if we add all these things in continuance just like the the life cycle just like the rain cycle the clouds go up they rain on the earth they water the earth and they evaporate and they go up again if you continue to add to your faith virtue you keep applying by the spirits help those things that you learn then you will become a vessel of honor sanctified and prepared for the master's use and if you continue to apply the good teaching of the Word of God in your life and not be a forgetful here then you're going to see your house becoming beautiful with gold silver and precious stones and if you will cleanse yourself from all these foolish and carnal doctrines of the wood and the hay and the stubble then you become a minister of righteousness meet for the fast for the master's use prepared for every good work let the Lord give you understanding in these things may you understand in the heart those things that are being spoken of so that we don't end up keeping up for ourselves teachers that give us the pleasure of our itching ear telling us that we can be worldly we can practice sin we can love life and see many days and not be obedient to what God's Word says we deceive ourselves and we are setting ourselves up for the man of lawlessness in the hour that's coming and we're not going to have the roots to stand and we're going to give in because of fear God has not given us a spirit of fear but a power and of love and of a sound mind and if we walk worthy of that calling then you don't have to fear falling look under Jesus and be radiant let your face not be ashamed people might mock you and say all kinds of things don't be ashamed because of that be ashamed because you've stumbled into sin and you need to repent if we repent we have an advocate with the Father and one John to repent and call on the name of the Lord and get your heart right and start to take ground spiritually and grow in grace and in the knowledge of God and become the fullness of God in Christ may the Lord Jesus bless you and keep you encourage you to press on in him and to walk worthy of that calling that you might fulfill the purpose and the call of God in your life in Jesus name ======================================================================== Video:
