======================================================================== RIVERS OF PROPHETIC WORDS by Sandeep Poonen ======================================================================== Summary: This sermon focuses on the significance of Psalm 81:10, emphasizing the promise of God to fill our mouths when we open them wide, not just with tongues but with the gift of prophecy to speak encouraging words to others. It highlights the importance of allowing God to replace words of bitterness, anger, and anxiety with rivers of living water flowing from our mouths throughout the day. The verse also reminds us of God's deliverance, drawing parallels between the Israelites' deliverance from Egypt and our assurance in the new covenant through Jesus, who is our anchor and forerunner. I the Lord am your God, open your mouth wide and I will fill it. This verse is very special to me because the first time I heard this verse is a very vivid memory. I was 17 years old and the elders of the local church that I was in in Bangalore were praying for me. That was my dad and brother Ian and I had asked for prayer to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I had been baptized in water and as they were praying for me brother Ian quoted this verse and gave this verse as a promise to me saying open your mouth wide and I will fill it. Now I was expecting to speak in tongues that's what I was looking for but the Lord had something different in mind and as brother Ian reminded me later that there was something much more important than tongues which was the gift of prophecy and to be able to speak encouraging words to other people and I definitely know that the Lord filled me with the Holy Spirit that day. I remember the devotion that I had for Jesus at that time but through the years that the Lord has taught me through the teachings of the elders at CFC that it is the gift of prophecy that the Lord wants to give to all of us and he wants us to open our mouths wider and wider so that he can give us a greater and greater anointing of the spirit of prophecy to share with others. So I pray that the Lord will do the same with us especially at this time that he will fill each of our mouths with special prophetic words of encouragement and grace for our wives for our husbands and for our children. Imagine if all day long we can have our mouths wide open as we heard last Sunday our ears must be open whatever mouths were open to receive gifts prophetic words to share to our spouses and to our children. I also wanted to share this other picture imagine if this was my mouth all day long if this was the prophetic words that were coming out of my mouth not just a drop here not just a trickle but rivers of encouraging words that could come in and it starts at eight o'clock in the morning because one of my children woke up on the wrong side of the bed and there's a rivers of living water that come in instead of anger. At 8.31 in the morning one of my children's zoom connections is not working with the class again rivers of living water can come out where previously things of frustration or anxiety ruled my heart and at the same time at 8.30 8.31 milk was spilled by one of the other children and these are the stresses of the children fighting with one another at 11.30 in the morning arguing over toys and throughout the day the question is Lord can I see that rivers of water that can come out of my mouth and that's the promise that Lord the Lord is saying to me open your mouth wide and I will fill it this is what I can do for you where there's been words of bitterness and anger and anxiety can be replaced with rivers of living water so I pray that that may be true in our lives the other thing that I wanted to share from this verse is the first part of the verse which is I am the Lord your God and it actually says there in the whole verse I'm the Lord who delivered you from Egypt this was the anchor that the Jews that the Israelites had God was the one who brought them out of the land of Egypt he was the one who miraculously pulled them out ended up by parting the Red Sea but all the plagues and all of that was the way in which he delivered them miraculously from the land of Egypt the Israelites had no hope but the Lord brought them out out of the house of slavery and I don't know I didn't know this for many years but the Ten Commandments in Exodus chapter 20 begins by the Lord saying I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt out of the house of slavery almost exactly the very same words here this was the anchor that that holds all of the Ten Commandments together this was the fuel and the confidence that the Lord was giving the Israelites to obey all of the Ten Commandments saying I am the Lord your God who already did the impossible for you who brought you out of the land of Egypt where you had no hope and out of the house of slavery I did that for you now obey these commandments of mine and in the new covenant God gives us a much greater assurance our hope is different as we heard Romans 8 28 29 to be like Jesus that is our hope and that's the anchor of Jesus who is our forerunner who went into the most holy place now God is saying just as Jesus was tempted in all points without sin he is our forerunner so that we can do the same but the anchor that God gives us today is much greater than what he gave the Israelites and I wanted to point you to the anchor that has been so strong in my life which is Romans 8 31 through 39 that's a passage we've memorized many years ago but I've been reminded of it over and over again as we've heard over and over again in the last few weeks to hear as well if God before you who can be against you he who did not spare his own son but freely gave him over for us all how will he not also with and freely give us all things and so on who shall what shall separate us from the love of God we will be overwhelmingly conquerors in all that we do this is the wonderful anchor that we have this is the fuel and the confidence I am the Lord your God who sent my only son to die for you and gave up everything that I had for you how will I not freely give you all things I am the Lord your God open your mouth wide and I will fill it this is the wonderful God that he wants to give us words of encouragement prophetic words of encouragement and hope in the days to come may be true and may our family wives and our children testify to that that this was true of us it will be so in Jesus name ======================================================================== Video: https://sermonindex2.b-cdn.net/WkCaIUTqPMU.mp4 Source: https://sermonindex.net/speakers/sandeep-poonen/rivers-of-prophetic-words/ ========================================================================
