to what lies ahead. Every day, Lord, I want to live with a clear
conscience. I want to follow you to the end of my life.

And every year I want to make progress. I want to be an overcomer, an
overcomer, an overcomer. And it says here in verse 14, I pressed toward
the goal.

I already told you the goal was to become totally like Christ, for the
upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Now to get there, Jesus said in Luke
and chapter 9 and verse 23, that if we want to follow Jesus, we have to
take up the cross and follow him. Take up the cross every day.

Luke 9, 23, if anyone wants to come after me, let him deny himself, take
up his cross daily and follow me. Now that's another message which is
missing in a lot of Christianity today. Take up the cross every day.
