10 Bible Verses on Backstabbers

10 verses

Malicious gossip and slander are strongly condemned in Scripture, as they can cause irreparable harm to individuals and communities. The book of Proverbs warns against those who spread discord and strife, while 2 Corinthians and Romans emphasize the destructive nature of backbiting and gossip. In contrast, Psalms encourages believers to avoid the counsel of the wicked and instead delight in the law of the Lord, and Ephesians reminds us to address conflicts honestly and directly, without allowing anger to boil over into hurtful words. By following these principles, Christians can promote harmony and build each other up.

slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant, and boastful. They invent new forms of evil; they disobey their parents.
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or set foot on the path of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the Law of the LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in season, whose leaf does not wither, and who prospers in all he does. Not so the wicked! For they are like chaff driven off by the wind. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the LORD guards the path of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
“Be angry, yet do not sin.” Do not let the sun set upon your anger,
Whoever curses his father or mother, his lamp will be extinguished in deepest darkness.
When they continued to question Him, He straightened up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to cast a stone at her.”
He who reveals secrets is a constant gossip; avoid the one who babbles with his lips.
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness.
