13 Bible Verses on Being Perfect

13 verses

In the pursuit of a deeper relationship with God, believers are called to strive for perfection, as Jesus teaches in the Sermon on the Mount. This lofty goal is not about achieving sinless flawlessness, but about maturing in love and becoming more like Christ, as seen in Matthew 19:21, where Jesus instructs a young man to sell his possessions and follow Him. The apostle James notes that anyone who makes no mistakes in speaking is perfect, emphasizing the importance of self-control and wisdom. Meanwhile, 1 John 4:18 and Romans 12:1-2 encourage believers to live a life of love, free from fear, and to offer themselves as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God.

Anyone born of God refuses to practice sin, because God’s seed abides in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.
But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners. ”
