In God's family, those who have received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are united as siblings, bound together by their shared faith and spiritual heritage. As Mark 3:35 notes, doing God's will is a key characteristic of this brotherly relationship. The Bible encourages believers to sharpen and support one another, as Proverbs 27:17 suggests, and to recognize their common identity as children of God, born again through faith, as described in John 1:12-13. This spiritual kinship is also highlighted in Hebrews 2:11 and 1 John 3:14, which emphasize the profound implications of being brothers and sisters in Christ.

But to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God— children born not of blood, nor of the desire or will of man, but born of God.
For both the One who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers.
We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. The one who does not love remains in death.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
But understand this: In the last days terrible times will come. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, without love of good, traitorous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. Turn away from such as these!
Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.
