As believers, we are called to construct our lives on a firm foundation, with Jesus Christ as the cornerstone. The apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians about the importance of building on this foundation with care, using materials that will withstand the test of time. In Luke and Matthew, Jesus teaches about the wisdom of planning and building wisely, warning against constructing on shaky ground. The New Testament also emphasizes the role of community in building one another up, as seen in 1 Thessalonians and Ephesians, where believers are encouraged to support and edify each other as living stones in God's spiritual house.

For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building. By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one must be careful how he builds. For no one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. If what he has built survives, he will receive a reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss. He himself will be saved, but only as if through the flames.
Which of you, wishing to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost to see if he has the resources to complete it?
Therefore encourage and build one another up, just as you are already doing.
Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because its foundation was on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and great was its collapse!”
Therefore you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone. In Him the whole building is fitted together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord. And in Him you too are being built together into a dwelling place for God in His Spirit.
Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain; unless the LORD protects the city, its watchmen stand guard in vain.
And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.
Go up into the hills, bring down lumber, and build the house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified, says the LORD.
