In the biblical account, human connection is a vital aspect of life, reflecting God's design for relationships. Genesis records that God created Eve as a companion for Adam, stating "it is not good for the man to be alone" and establishing the foundation for marriage as a union between two people. The importance of companionship is further highlighted in Ecclesiastes, which notes that two are better than one, and in Proverbs, which observes that finding a spouse brings joy. The value of marriage and companionship is also affirmed in Hebrews, which instructs believers to honor marriage, recognizing its significance in God's plan for human relationships.

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. For if one falls down, his companion can lift him up; but pity the one who falls without another to help him up! Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; but how can one keep warm alone? And though one may be overpowered, two can resist. Moreover, a cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
The LORD God also said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make for him a suitable helper.”
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
Marriage should be honored by all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.
“I am the true vine, and My Father is the keeper of the vineyard. He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit, and every branch that does bear fruit, He prunes to make it even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me. I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in Me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers. Such branches are gathered up, thrown into the fire, and burned.
Since you have purified your souls by obedience to the truth so that you have a genuine love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from a pure heart.
He who walks with the wise will become wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed.
A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who stays closer than a brother.
But if the unbeliever leaves, let him go. The believing brother or sister is not bound in such cases. God has called you to live in peace.
