In the face of disagreements and conflicts, the Bible offers guidance on how to navigate these challenging situations. According to Matthew 18:15-17, addressing disputes in a personal and loving manner is essential, while 1 Corinthians 6:1-6 warns against taking fellow believers to court, instead encouraging resolution within the community. Romans 12:19 cautions against seeking revenge, and Proverbs 15:1 reminds us that gentle words can diffuse tension. Ultimately, 2 Timothy 3:16-17 reminds us that Scripture is profitable for teaching and equipping us to resolve disputes in a way that honors God.

If your brother sins against you, go and confront him privately. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, regard him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
If any of you has a grievance against another, how dare he go to law before the unrighteous instead of before the saints! Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases? Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life! So if you need to settle everyday matters, do you appoint as judges those of no standing in the church? I say this to your shame. Is there really no one among you wise enough to arbitrate between his brothers? Instead, one brother goes to law against another, and this in front of unbelievers!
Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but leave room for God’s wrath. For it is written: “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, says the Lord.”
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work.
For he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not carry the sword in vain. He is God’s servant, an agent of retribution to the wrongdoer.
