11 Bible Verses on Dying

11 verses

In the face of mortality, believers are encouraged to trust in God's presence and promise. As Jesus comforted His disciples, He assured them that He would prepare a place for them and receive them to Himself, giving them peace in the face of death (John 14:1-3). The Bible acknowledges the inevitability of physical death, as seen in Ecclesiastes 12:7, where the body returns to dust, but the spirit returns to God. Through faith in Jesus, who said "I am the resurrection and the life," believers can have confidence in eternal life, and be free from fear, as Joshua 1:9 reminds them to be strong and courageous. Ultimately, Revelation 21:4 promises that God will wipe away every tear, and there will be no more death, only eternal life with Him.

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe in Me as well. In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and welcome you into My presence, so that you also may be where I am.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for the sake of His name. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— in an instant, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must be clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come to pass: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.
If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
