12 Bible Verses on Fortune

12 verses

Consulting mediums and seeking fortune is strongly condemned in Scripture as a form of idolatry. The book of Leviticus warns against seeking guidance from spirits and mediums, commanding the Israelites to avoid such practices. In 2 Kings, King Manasseh's involvement with mediums and sorcerers is cited as a reason for God's judgment on Judah. Isaiah also condemns seeking guidance from the dead, instead urging the people to seek the Lord for wisdom and direction. These passages emphasize the importance of trusting in God's sovereignty and guidance rather than seeking fortune through occult means.

One day as we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl with a spirit of divination, who earned a large income for her masters by fortune-telling. Eventually Paul grew so aggravated that he turned and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” And the spirit left her at that very moment. When the girl’s owners saw that their hope of making money was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them before the authorities in the marketplace.
