In the economy of God's kingdom, generosity and receptivity are intertwined, as seen in Jesus' teaching that "give, and it will be given to you" (Luke 6:38). The wisdom literature of Proverbs notes that those who sow generously will reap abundantly, while those who withhold will experience scarcity (Proverbs 11:24-25). The apostle Paul echoes this principle, reminding the Corinthians that "God loves a cheerful giver" (2 Corinthians 9:7), and Jesus Himself warns against giving for the sake of human recognition (Matthew 6:1-4). As the early church demonstrated, giving and receiving are essential to the life of faith, with the apostle Paul citing Jesus' words that "it is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35).

If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles strive after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.
And do not neglect to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, with whom there is no change or shifting shadow.
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, for God has said: “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.”
And my God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
Then Jesus said to the man who had invited Him, “When you host a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or brothers or relatives or rich neighbors. Otherwise, they may invite you in return, and you will be repaid. But when you host a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind, and you will be blessed. Since they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”
