10 Bible Verses on Giving Testimony

10 verses

Sharing the story of how God has worked in one's life is a powerful way to spread the gospel and encourage others. In Mark 5:19, Jesus instructs a healed man to tell others about the miracle he experienced, while in Revelation 12:11, believers are said to have overcome Satan by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony. The apostle John writes in 1 John 5:10 that believing in Jesus is equivalent to having a personal testimony, and in John 8:14, Jesus Himself testifies to His own identity and mission. As Philippians 1:27-30 teaches, living a life worthy of the gospel and standing firm in the face of adversity are essential to giving a compelling testimony.

Mark 5:19
But Jesus would not allow him. “Go home to your own people,” He said, “and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and what mercy He has shown you.”
They have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. And they did not love their lives so as to shy away from death.
Whoever believes in the Son of God has this testimony within him; whoever does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given about His Son.
John 8:14
Jesus replied, “Even if I testify about Myself, My testimony is valid, because I know where I came from and where I am going. But you do not know where I came from or where I am going.
Nevertheless, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending side by side for the faith of the gospel, without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a clear sign of their destruction but of your salvation, and it is from God. For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for Him, since you are encountering the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have.
And you also must testify, because you have been with Me from the beginning.
Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His loving devotion endures forever. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy
Who then overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ—not by water alone, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies to this, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit, the water, and the blood—and these three are in agreement.
And this is that testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father—He will testify about Me.
