9 Bible Verses on Hardship

9 verses

In the face of adversity, believers are called to persevere and trust in God's sovereignty. According to James, trials can refine faith and produce endurance, as believers learn to count hardships as opportunities for spiritual growth. Jesus warned His followers that they would face persecution, as seen in John, but also promised to be with them through it all. The apostle Paul, in Romans, reassured believers that no hardship can separate them from God's love, and Peter encouraged them to rejoice in sharing Christ's sufferings, while Timothy was exhorted to endure hardship like a good soldier of Christ.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you encounter trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Allow perseverance to finish its work, so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
If the world hates you, understand that it hated Me first. If you were of the world, it would love you as its own. Instead, the world hates you, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. Remember the word that I spoke to you: ‘No servant is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you as well; if they kept My word, they will keep yours as well.

As it is written: “For Your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
But rejoice that you share in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed at the revelation of His glory.
Join me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.
For everything that was written in the past was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures, we might have hope.
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears; He delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is near to the brokenhearted; He saves the contrite in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him from them all.
Indeed, all who desire to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
