A lukewarm attitude towards God and spiritual matters is condemned in Scripture, as seen in the Lord's rebuke to the church in Revelation. According to Romans 12:2, believers are called to be transformed by renewing their minds, avoiding conformity to the world's indifferent values. Jesus Himself lamented the apathy of His generation, as recorded in Matthew 11:16-17, and taught that seeking God's kingdom should be the top priority, as stated in Matthew 6:33. The Lord's words in Revelation 3:15-16 and 3:19 serve as a warning to those who are neither hot nor cold in their devotion, urging them to repent and rekindle their passion for Him.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
I know your deeds; you are neither cold nor hot. How I wish you were one or the other! So because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to vomit you out of My mouth!
To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others: ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.
And at that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps and punish the men settled in complacency, who say to themselves, ‘The LORD will do nothing, either good or bad.’
