14 Bible Verses on Knowing the Future

14 verses

The Bible teaches that God has a plan for His people, and while the future is not fully knowable to humans, He is sovereign over all that will come to pass. According to Jeremiah, God's plans are for good and not for evil, giving His people hope and a future. The book of Proverbs notes that human plans are subject to change, but God's purposes will ultimately prevail, as confirmed in Romans, where it is written that all things work together for good. Additionally, Psalms and James remind us that our knowledge is limited, and we should approach the future with humility, submitting our plans to God's wisdom.

But if any prophet dares to speak a message in My name that I have not commanded him to speak, or to speak in the name of other gods, that prophet must be put to death.” You may ask in your heart, “How can we recognize a message that the LORD has not spoken?” When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD and the message does not come to pass or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Your eyes saw my unformed body; all my days were written in Your book and ordained for me before one of them came to be.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
I declare the end from the beginning, and ancient times from what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and all My good pleasure I will accomplish.’
