Scripture teaches that our actions should be driven by a desire to honor and please God. In Colossians 3:23, believers are instructed to work heartily, as if serving the Lord, and 1 Corinthians 15:58 encourages steadfast and unshakeable effort in all endeavors. Trusting in God's sovereignty, as urged in Proverbs 3:5, frees us to labor with purpose and diligence, knowing that with God, all things are possible, as seen in Matthew 19:26. Ultimately, our motivation is rooted in the knowledge that God is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit, as expressed in Psalms 34:17-20.

Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men,
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast and immovable. Always excel in the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears; He delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is near to the brokenhearted; He saves the contrite in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him from them all. He protects all his bones; not one of them will be broken.
But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me.
“Be careful not to perform your righteous acts before men to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give to the needy, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
And my God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary; His understanding is beyond searching out. He gives power to the faint and increases the strength of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall. But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.
