In God's Word, believers are encouraged to trust in His power and love, rather than giving in to fearful thoughts and anxieties. According to 2 Timothy, God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love, and 1 John reminds us that perfect love casts out fear. The apostle Paul writes in 2 Corinthians about taking every thought captive to obey Christ, and in Proverbs, we are advised to trust in the Lord with all our hearts, rather than relying on our own understanding. Through faith in God's promises, as expressed in 1 John, we can overcome phobias and live in freedom and trust.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.
There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. The one who fears has not been perfected in love.
We tear down arguments and every presumption set up against the knowledge of God; and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
And this is that testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh craves what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are opposed to each other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; idolatry and sorcery; hatred, discord, jealousy, and rage; rivalries, divisions, factions, and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Do you not know that you yourselves are God’s temple, and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?
