In the biblical account of creation, God provides plants as a source of food and sustenance for humanity and animals. According to Genesis, God created plants and trees to bear fruit and seeds, demonstrating His provision and care. The Gospels note that Jesus teaches about the importance of spiritual roots, saying that every plant not planted by the Father will be uprooted, as seen in Matthew. The prophetic book of Isaiah and the apostle Paul's letter to the Corinthians also use plant imagery to illustrate spiritual growth and the role of God's servants in nurturing it.

Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing plant on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit contains seed. They will be yours for food. And to every beast of the earth and every bird of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth—everything that has the breath of life in it—I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so.
Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth vegetation: seed-bearing plants and fruit trees, each bearing fruit with seed according to its kind.” And it was so. The earth produced vegetation: seed-bearing plants according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
But Jesus replied, “Every plant that My heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by its roots.
For as the earth brings forth its growth, and as a garden enables seed to spring up, so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations.
So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in season, whose leaf does not wither, and who prospers in all he does.
He makes the grass grow for the livestock and provides crops for man to cultivate, bringing forth food from the earth:
Then the angel showed me a river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the main street of the city. On either side of the river stood a tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit and yielding a fresh crop for each month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.
Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing plant on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit contains seed. They will be yours for food.
The earth produced vegetation: seed-bearing plants according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
Everything that lives and moves will be food for you; just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you all things.
He who plants and he who waters are one in purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor.
