Seeking to please God above all else is a fundamental principle of the Christian life. As Paul writes in Galatians, attempting to please people can lead to compromising one's faith, whereas striving to please God brings true freedom. The book of Proverbs warns that fearing man can be a snare, while Romans encourages believers to be transformed by renewing their minds, rather than conforming to the world's standards. In 1 Thessalonians, Paul affirms that his ministry is driven by a desire to please God, who tests hearts, and Romans calls believers to offer themselves as living sacrifices, pleasing to God.

Am I now seeking the approval of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
The fear of man is a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is set securely on high.
Instead, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, not in order to please men but God, who examines our hearts.

Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men,
