As followers of Christ, believers are called to gather together in community to worship, learn, and serve. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus commissions His disciples to make more disciples, teaching them to observe His commands. The church is also described in Colossians 3:16 as a place where believers let the word of Christ dwell richly, and in 1 Peter 2:9-10 as a royal priesthood, proclaiming God's praises. Ephesians 2:19-22 and Hebrews 10:25 further emphasize the importance of believers gathering together, building each other up, and holding fast to their faith.

And it was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for works of ministry and to build up the body of Christ,
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, to proclaim the virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
