The Bible cautions against judging others based on superficial characteristics, emphasizing the importance of looking beyond outward appearances. In 1 Samuel, God instructs Samuel to disregard physical appearance when selecting a king, as He "sees not as man sees" (1 Samuel 16:7). Jesus teaches the crowds to "not judge by appearances" in John 7:24, while Paul quotes a Cretan prophet in Titus 1:12-16, highlighting the dangers of prejudiced thinking. Additionally, Habakkuk and Malachi warn against making hasty judgments, emphasizing the need for discernment and understanding, as seen in Malachi 2:10.

As one of their own prophets has said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sternly, so that they will be sound in the faith and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the commands of men who have rejected the truth. To the pure, all things are pure; but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure. Indeed, both their minds and their consciences are defiled. They profess to know God, but by their actions they deny Him. They are detestable, disobedient, and unfit for any good deed.
For behold, I am raising up the Chaldeans — that ruthless and impetuous nation which marches through the breadth of the earth to seize dwellings not their own.

But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or height, for I have rejected him; the LORD does not see as man does. For man sees the outward appearance, but the LORD sees the heart.”
“Do not judge, or you will be judged. For with the same judgment you pronounce, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
Have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
