The apostle James instructs believers to submit to God and resist the devil, promising that He will flee from them, as stated in James 4:7. This surrender is also reflected in Jesus' own prayers, such as in the Garden of Gethsemane, where He submitted His will to the Father's, as seen in Mark 14:35-36. Through surrender, believers can experience transformation, as described in Romans 12:2, and abide in Christ, as taught in John 15:1-7, ultimately finding peace and humility, as encouraged in 1 Peter 5:6-10.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, so that in due time He may exalt you. Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering. And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore you, secure you, strengthen you, and establish you.
Therefore I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
