17 Bible Verses on The Battle Is the Lords

17 verses

In times of struggle and uncertainty, the Bible reminds us that ultimate victory belongs to God. As seen in 2 Chronicles 20:15, the prophet Jahaziel declares that the battle is not ours, but the Lord's, emphasizing our dependence on divine power. This theme is echoed in Ephesians 6:12, which highlights the spiritual nature of our conflicts, and in 1 Samuel 17:47, where David trusts in God's name to defeat Goliath. The Lord's empowerment is also evident in Zechariah 4:6 and Exodus 14:13-14, where His presence and intervention bring triumph over overwhelming odds.

And he said, “Listen, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen, King Jehoshaphat! This is what the LORD says: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army, for the battle does not belong to you, but to God.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

In those days Hezekiah became mortally ill. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz came to him and said, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Put your house in order, for you are about to die; you will not recover.’” Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD, saying, “Please, O LORD, remember how I have walked before You faithfully and with wholehearted devotion; I have done what was good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly. Before Isaiah had left the middle courtyard, the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “Go back and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people that this is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: ‘I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. I will surely heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the house of the LORD. I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for My sake and for the sake of My servant David.’” Then Isaiah said, “Prepare a poultice of figs.” So they brought it and applied it to the boil, and Hezekiah recovered.
“Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged before the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater One with us than with him.
For the flesh craves what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are opposed to each other, so that you do not do what you want.
The weapons of our warfare are not the weapons of the world. Instead, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.

We are hard pressed on all sides, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;
The LORD is a warrior, the LORD is His name.
