The return of Jesus Christ is a promised event in which He will come back to earth in glory. According to Hebrews 9:28, Christ will appear a second time to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him. The apostle Paul writes in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 that Jesus' return will be accompanied by a resurrection of believers who have died, and they will be caught up to meet Him in the air. The Bible teaches that Jesus' return will be sudden and unexpected, like a thief in the night, as described in 2 Peter 3:10 and Matthew 24:36, and will be visible to all, as stated in Revelation 1:7.

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will be the first to rise. After that, we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord.

For this reason, you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour you do not expect.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe in Me as well. In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and welcome you into My presence, so that you also may be where I am.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and welcome you into My presence, so that you also may be where I am.
They were looking intently into the sky as He was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen Him go into heaven.”
But watch yourselves, or your hearts will be weighed down by dissipation, drunkenness, and the worries of life—and that day will spring upon you suddenly like a snare. For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of all the earth. So keep watch at all times, and pray that you may have the strength to escape all that is about to happen and to stand before the Son of Man.”
“Behold, I am coming soon, and My reward is with Me, to give to each one according to what he has done.
