9 Bible Verses on The Will of God

9 verses

In Scripture, God's will is revealed as a guiding principle for believers, directing them towards a life of obedience and faithfulness. According to 1 Thessalonians 5:18, giving thanks in all circumstances is God's will, while 1 Thessalonians 4:3 teaches that His will is for believers to live a holy life. The Lord's Prayer, as recorded in Matthew 6:9-13, also expresses a desire for God's will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Additionally, 1 Peter 3:17 suggests that, if possible, believers should suffer for doing good, which is God's will, and 2 Thessalonians 3:6 encourages them to follow the example of those who walk in God's will.

Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
So then, this is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. ’
For it is God’s will that you should be holy: You must abstain from sexual immorality;
Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from any brother who leads an undisciplined life that is not in keeping with the tradition you received from us.
For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit, in whom He also went and preached to the spirits in prison who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In the ark a few people, only eight souls, were saved through water. And this water symbolizes the baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body, but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers subject to Him.
But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins...” Then He said to the paralytic, “Get up, pick up your mat, and go home.” And the man got up and went home. When the crowds saw this, they were filled with awe and glorified God, who had given such authority to men.
The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
