Jesus warned His disciples that they would have trouble, but encouraged them to take heart because He has overcome the world, as seen in John 16:33. The Bible teaches that even in difficult circumstances, God is at work, as Romans 8:28 assures that all things work together for good for those who love Him. By trusting in God's sovereignty, as Proverbs 3:5-6 advises, and persevering through trials, as James 1:2 and 1 Peter 5:8 exhort, believers can grow in faith and maturity, ultimately emerging stronger and more resilient.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you encounter trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Allow perseverance to finish its work, so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.
Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you, and you will suffer tribulation for ten days. Be faithful even unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.
