Hosea 3

BSA

1 Then the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] said to me, “Go show love [to have affection for, to be devoted to] to your wife again, though she is loved [cherished, admired] by another and is an adulteress [one who commits adultery, is unfaithful]. Love her as the LORD [the supreme God, Yehovah] loves the Israelites [the descendants of Jacob, God’s chosen people], though they turn [face, direct their attention] to other gods [false deities, idols] and offer raisin cakes [sweet treats] to idols [false gods, objects of worship].” word study 2 So I bought [acquired, redeemed] her for fifteen [a multiple of five] shekels [pieces, units] of silver [a precious metal] and a homer [a dry measure, about 65 gallons] and a lethech of barley [a staple food]. word study 3 Then I said to her, “You must live [dwell, remain] with me for many [numerous, abundant] days; you must not be promiscuous [play the harlot, commit adultery] or belong [be intimate, be a wife] to another [a different, someone else’s], and I will do the same [also, in like manner] for you.” word study 4 For the Israelites [children of Israel, descendants of Jacob] must live [dwell, remain] many [numerous, abundant] days without king [ruler, monarch] or prince [leader, captain], without sacrifice [offering, atonement] or sacred pillar [memorial stone, monument], and without ephod [priestly vest, sacred garment] or idol [teraphim, household image]. word study 5 Afterward [in the future, later on], the people of Israel will return [come back, turn back] and seek [search for, inquire about] the LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God] their God [Elohim, the supreme Being] and David [the king, their ruler] their king [leader, monarch]. They will come [approach, draw near] trembling [with fear, in awe] to the LORD [in reverence, with respect] and to His goodness [lovingkindness, mercy] in the last [latter, final] days [period of time, era]. word study
