Psalms 108
BSA1 My heart [is fixed, steadfast, and unwavering] is steadfast, O God [my Rock, my Redeemer]; I will sing [give praise] and make music [with my voice, with melody, and with harmony] with all my being [my soul, my spirit, and my body]. word study 2 Awake [wake up, arise], O harp [psaltery, stringed instrument] and lyre [small harp]! I will awaken [wake up early, stir up] the dawn [at the break of day, early morning]. word study 3 I will praise [give thanks to, glorify] You, O LORD [Yehovah, the self-existent God], among the nations [peoples, Gentile countries]; I will sing [make melody, chant] Your praises [hymns, songs of adoration] among the peoples [nations, ethnic groups]. word study 4 For Your loving devotion [great above the heavens, trustworthy love] extends beyond the heavens [to the skies], and Your faithfulness [truth, unchanging faith] reaches to the clouds [the skies]. word study 5 Be exalted [lifted up, elevated], O God [the supreme Creator], above the heavens [the visible universe, the sky]; may Your glory [divine presence, honor] cover [encompass, overshadow] all the earth [the land, the world]. word study 6 Respond [answer our prayers] and save [rescue, deliver] us with Your right hand [power, strength], that Your beloved [loved ones, dear children] may be delivered [safe from danger, rescued]. word study 7 God [the supreme Ruler, holy and sovereign] has spoken from His sanctuary [holy Temple, sacred dwelling place]: “I will triumph [exult, rejoice victoriously]! I will parcel out [divide, apportion as an inheritance] Shechem [a city of refuge, a place of safety] and apportion [measure out, distribute as a gift] the Valley of Succoth [a valley of abundance, a place of spiritual nourishment]. word study 8 Gilead [a region in Palestine] is Mine, and Manasseh [a tribe of Israel] is Mine; Ephraim [the strength of my head] is My helmet [defence of my head], Judah [my lawgiver, ruler] is My scepter. word study 9 Moab is My [washpot, vessel for cleansing] washbasin; upon Edom I toss [cast out, throw away] My sandal; over Philistia I shout [shout habitually, triumph victoriously] in triumph.” word study 10 Who will bring me to the fortified [strong, walled] city? Who will lead me to Edom [the region of Esau’s descendants]? word study 11 Have You [rejected, cast off] not rejected us, O God [Elohim, the supreme Creator]? Will You [refuse to] no longer march out [go forth, lead], O God, with our armies [hosts, troops]? word study 12 Give us aid [help, assistance, or support] against the enemy [adversary, trouble, or foe], for the help [salvation, deliverance, or rescue] of man [humanity, mankind, or human effort] is worthless [vain, useless, or of no value]. word study 13 With God [our strength and helper] we will perform [do valiantly, accomplish great things] with valor [courage, bravery], and He [the Almighty, our Savior] will trample [tread down, defeat] our enemies [adversaries, those who oppose us]. word study
