BSA

1 I lift up [raise, elevate] my eyes [the source of sight, understanding] to You [toward, in the direction of], the One [who dwells, sits] enthroned [in a position of authority, ruling] in heaven [the spiritual realm, the dwelling place of God]. word study 2 As the eyes [organs of spiritual insight] of servants [bondservants, those devoted to their master] look to the hand [an open hand; strength, a side or share] of their master [lord, one who has authority], as the eyes of a maidservant [female servant, one who serves her mistress] look to the hand of her mistress [lady, one who has charge], so our eyes [sources of our deepest longings] are on the LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God] our God [Elohim, the supreme Ruler] until He shows us mercy [is gracious to us, bends to help us in our need]. word study 3 Have mercy [show kindness, be gracious] on us, O LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God], have mercy [be favourable, show compassion], for we have endured [suffered, been filled to the full] much [greatly, exceedingly] contempt [disrespect, scorn]. word study 4 We have endured [suffered patiently] much scorn [derision, mocking] from the arrogant [proud, haughty ones], much contempt [disrespect, disdain] from the proud [those who are secure, at ease]. word study
