Psalms 127

BSA

1 Unless the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] builds [establishes, repairs] the house [dwelling place, family], its builders [laborers, workers] labor [toil, work hard] in vain [emptiness, uselessness]; unless the LORD [Yehovah, God] protects [keeps, watches over] the city [town, settlement], its watchmen [guards, sentries] stand guard [watch, are vigilant] in vain [to no purpose, without result]. word study 2 In vain [to no purpose, empty] you rise early [at dawn, before sunrise] and stay up late [into the night, delaying rest], toiling [laboring, working hard] for bread [food, sustenance] to eat— for He gives [graciously provides, bestows] sleep [rest, refreshment] to His beloved [loved ones, cherished ones, those dear to Him]. word study 3 Children [a gift from the Lord, an inheritance] are indeed a heritage [a divine gift, an inheritance] from the LORD [Yehovah, the supreme God], and the fruit [the product, the result] of the womb [the belly, the seat of life] is His reward [a payment, a blessing, wages]. word study 4 Like arrows [sharp objects shot from a bow, for hunting or battle] in the hand [an open hand; strength, a side or share] of a warrior [a strong or mighty man, a champion], so are children [sons or descendants, a gift from God] born in one’s youth [the state of being young, a time of vitality and energy]. word study 5 Blessed [happy, fortunate] is the man [strong person] whose quiver [container for arrows] is full [completely filled, abundant] of them [his children, his legacy]. He will not [never, under no circumstances] be put to shame [ashamed, disappointed] when he confronts [meets, faces] the enemies [those who oppose, adversaries] at the gate [place of judgment, city entrance]. word study
