Psalms 142

BSA

1 I cry [with my voice] aloud to the LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God]; I lift [raise, plead] my voice [in supplication, for mercy] to the LORD [the sovereign Lord] for mercy [grace, loving-kindness, undeserved favor]. word study 2 I pour out [express, declare] my complaint [trouble, meditation] before [to, towards] Him; I reveal [show, make clear] my trouble [distress, affliction] to [before] Him. word study 3 Although my spirit [is overwhelmed, utterly discouraged] grows faint [to pour out, become exhausted] within me, You know [are intimately aware of, see] my way [path, journey]. Along the path [road, journey] I travel they have hidden [privily laid, secretly set] a snare [trap, pitfall] for me. word study 4 Look to my right [on my right hand, to my side] and see; no one attends to me [knows me, recognizes me]. There is no refuge [safe place, shelter] for me; no one cares for my soul [has concern for my life, my well-being]. word study 5 I cry [with urgent need, out of distress] to You, O LORD [my Master, the sovereign God]: “You are my refuge [my safe place, my shelter], my portion [my inheritance, my share] in the land [the earth, the world] of the living [those who have life, the breathing].” word study 6 Listen to my cry [Attend unto my loud cry, for help], for I am brought [made] quite low [very low, to a desperate state]. Rescue me from my pursuers [persecutors, those who are after me], for they are too strong [stronger] for me [than I]. word study 7 Free [rescue, bring out] my soul [spirit, inner being] from prison [captivity, bondage], that I may praise [give thanks, glorify] Your name [reputation, character]. The righteous [upright, godly] will gather [surround, encompass] around me because of [due to, as a result of] Your goodness [bounty, kindness] to me. word study
