Psalms 24
BSA1 The earth [land, territory] is the LORD’s [Yehovah, the self-existent God], and the fullness [abundance, everything needed] thereof, the world [inhabited earth, creation] and all who dwell [reside, inhabit] therein [in it, as its inhabitants]. word study 2 For [because of this reason] He [the Creator, God] has founded [established, laid the foundation] it upon [above, over] the seas [large bodies of water] and established [set up, appointed] it upon [above, over] the waters [rivers, floods, deep rivers]. word study 3 Who [what person, whoever it may be] may ascend [go up, rise to] the hill [mountain] of the LORD [Yehovah, the divine Redeemer]? Who [what person, whoever it may be] may stand [rise up, take their place] in His [belonging to God, sacred] holy [set-apart, sanctified] place [sacred location, temple]? word study 4 He who has [morally] clean hands and a [sincere] pure heart, who does not [utterly, completely] lift up his soul [living being, essence] to an idol [vanity, falsehood] or swear [make an oath, vow] deceitfully [with cheating, lying]. word study 5 He will receive [take away, be given] blessing [a gift from God, prosperity] from the LORD [Yehovah, the Lord God] and vindication [righteousness, justification] from the God [Elohim, the supreme God] of his salvation [deliverance, rescue]. word study 6 Such is the generation [a group of people, a period of time] of those who seek [search for, ask, worship] Him, who seek [diligently inquire, pursue] Your face [presence, being before You], O God [Elohim, the supreme God] of Jacob [the father of the Israelites]. Selah word study 7 Lift up [raise high, exalt] your heads [uppermost parts], O gates [city entrances, temple doors]! Be lifted up [elevated, raised], O ancient [everlasting, eternal] doors [entrances, portals], that the King [royal ruler, sovereign] of Glory [great honor, divine splendor] may enter [come in, approach]! word study 8 Who [the one inquiring about the King’s identity] is this King [the ruler of glory] of Glory [great honor, splendor, or majesty]? The LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] strong [having power, ability, or might] and mighty [powerful, having collective strength], the LORD [Yehovah, the supreme ruler] mighty [strong, courageous, or valiant] in battle [war, conflict, or combat]. word study 9 Lift up [raise high, exalt] your heads [uppermost part], O gates [entrances, doorways]! Be lifted up [elevated, raised], O ancient [everlasting, forever] doors [portals, entrances], that the King [ruler, sovereign] of Glory [great honor, splendor] may enter [come in, arrive]! word study 10 Who [the one being referred to] is He, this [emphatic, singular] King [ruler, sovereign] of Glory [great honor, splendor, divine majesty]? The LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God] of Hosts [armies, heavenly forces]— He [the one previously mentioned] is the King [ruler, sovereign] of Glory [great honor, splendor, divine majesty].
