Psalms 34
BSA1 I will bless [praise, give thanks to] the LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God] at all times [continually, every moment]; His praise [worship, adoration] will always [constantly, continually] be on my lips [in my mouth, with my words]. word study 2 My soul [my inner being, my whole heart] boasts [shall make her boast, will say great things] in the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God]; let the oppressed [the humble, those who are discouraged] hear [have knowledge of it] and rejoice [be glad, be happy]. word study 3 Magnify [glorify, praise highly] the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] with me; let us exalt [honor, lift up] His name [reputation, character] together [in unity, as one]. word study 4 I sought [prayed to, asked for help from] the LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God], and He answered [heard, listened to] me; He delivered [rescued, set free] me from all my fears [dread, anxieties]. word study 5 Those who look [gaze with expectation, seek] to Him [the Lord] are radiant [shining with joy, lightened] with joy [happiness, delight]; their faces [countenances, expressions] shall never be ashamed [disappointed, confounded]. word study 6 This poor man [miserable, helpless] called out [cried, prayed], and the LORD [Yehovah, the compassionate God] heard him [listened, gave attention]; He saved [rescued, delivered] him from all his troubles [distresses, afflictions]. word study 7 The angel [messenger of Yehovah, divine guardian] of the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] encamps [pitcheth round about, stands guard over] around those who fear [have strong respect for, revere] Him, and he delivers [saves, rescues, armeth] them. word study 8 Taste [experience, find out for yourself] and see [perceive, understand] that the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] is good [gracious, benevolent]; blessed [happy, fortunate] is the man [person, individual] who takes refuge [trusts, has faith] in Him [as his protector, Savior]! word study 9 Fear [show reverence for, revere] the LORD [Yehovah, the supreme God], you His saints [holy ones, set apart ones], for those who fear [respect, have awe of] Him lack [have no want, are in need of nothing] nothing [no thing, everything they need]. word study 10 Young lions [usually strong, but sometimes weak] go lacking [in need, hungry] and hungry [suffering want], but those who [reverently] seek [trust in, look to] the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] lack [are without, do not want] no [nothing, not any] good thing [that is necessary, beneficial]. word study 11 Come, children [ye children, my students], listen to me; I will teach you the fear [reverence, awe] of the LORD [Yehovah, the one true God]. word study 12 Who is the man [desiring life, loving many days] who delights [takes pleasure, is pleased] in life [enjoying a long and happy life], who desires [wishes, longs] to see [experience, behold] good [prosperous, joyful] days [a long and happy life, many days]? word study 13 Keep your tongue [from speaking evil, from lying] from evil [wickedness, harm] and your lips [from speaking deceit, from telling lies] from deceitful [guile, dishonest] speech [words, conversation]. word study 14 Turn away [reject, depart] from evil [bad, morally wrong] and do good [what is right, beneficial]; seek [search for, pursue with diligence] peace [harmony, wholeness] and pursue [follow after, chase] it [with all your heart, diligently]. word study 15 The eyes [watchful and attentive] of the LORD [the sovereign God, Yehovah] are on the righteous [those who do right, upright], and His ears [open and receptive] are inclined [listening carefully] to their cry [a call for help, a plea in distress]. word study 16 But the face [expression, countenance] of the LORD [Yehovah, the Lord God] is against [opposed to, turned away from] those who do [commit, practice] evil [wickedness, sin], to wipe out [cut off, eliminate] all memory [remembrance, recollection] of them from the earth [the world, the land of the living]. word study 17 The righteous [upright, those living justly] cry out [call for help, pray], and the LORD [Yehovah, the Lord God] hears [listens, is attentive]; He delivers [rescues, saves] them from all their troubles [distresses, afflictions]. word study 18 The LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] is near [close beside, always ready to help] to the brokenhearted [those who are of a broken heart, discouraged]; He saves [rescues, delivers from danger] the contrite [those who are of a contrite spirit, having a crushed spirit] in spirit [the inner being, the soul]. word study 19 Many [numerous, abundant] are the afflictions [troubles, hardships] of the righteous [upright, just], but the LORD [Yehovah, the divine Savior] delivers [saves, rescues] him from them all [out of every one, completely]. word study 20 He [the Lord] protects [keeps safe, rescues] all [every one of] his bones [the very framework of his being]; not [none, nothing] one [single] of them [his bones] will [shall, is going to] be [is] broken [shattered, fractured]. word study 21 Evil [malice, wickedness] will slay [put to death, kill] the wicked [those who oppose God], and the haters [those who despise, oppose] of the righteous [those who are just, upright] will be condemned [desolate, punished]. word study 22 The LORD [Yehovah, the Redeemer] redeems [saves, rescues] His servants [those who trust in Him], and none [no one, not a single person] who take [put their faith in, trust in] refuge [shelter, protection] in Him [the righteous One] will be [are, shall be] condemned [desolate, guilty, punished]. word study
