Psalms 62
BSA1 In God [the only true deity, my Rock] alone my soul [my inner being, my heart] finds rest [waiteth in silence, keeps still]; my salvation [deliverance, rescue] comes from Him [the Lord, my Savior]. word study 2 He alone [my sole refuge] is my rock [strong foundation, high tower] and my salvation [deliverance, victory]. He is my fortress [defense, shelter]; I will never [not in any circumstance] be shaken [greatly moved, defeated]. word study 3 How long will you threaten [imagine mischief against, design evil] a man? Will all of you throw him down like a leaning [bowing, tottering] wall or a tottering [broken, shaken] fence? word study 4 They fully intend [to plot, to scheme] to cast him down from his lofty perch [his high position, his dignity]; they delight [take pleasure] in lies [deceit, falsehood]; with their mouths they bless [speak well of], but inwardly [in their hearts, secretly] they curse [revile, speak evil]. Selah word study 5 Rest [wait in silence, be still] in God [the only true deity, Almighty] alone [only, exclusively], O my soul [my inner being, my heart], for my hope [expectation, confidence] comes [is derived, originates] from Him [the Lord, my Savior]. word study 6 He alone [my sole refuge] is my rock [high tower, defense] and my salvation [deliverance, rescue]; He is my fortress [stronghold, shelter]; I will not be shaken [moved, disturbed]. word study 7 My salvation [deliverance, victory] and my honor [glory, dignity] rest on God [the Rock of my strength], my strong rock [foundation, refuge]; my refuge [high tower, place of safety] is in God [my Trust, my Savior]. word study 8 Trust [have faith, rely] in Him [the one supreme God, Elohim] at all times [in every situation, always], O people [His children, those who belong to Him]; pour out [freely express, fully surrender] your hearts [your deepest emotions, innermost thoughts] before Him [in His presence, to His care]. God [the Rock, our Refuge] is our [safe, secure] refuge [shelter, haven]. Selah [pause, reflect] word study 9 Lowborn men [ordinary people, those of humble status] are but a vapor [a breath, something fleeting], the exalted [men of high degree, leaders] but a lie [unreliable, false]. Weighed on the scale [in the balances], they go up; together they are but a vapor [altogether lighter than vanity, less than a puff of air]. word study 10 Place no trust [or confidence, reliance] in extortion [oppression, wrongful gain], or false hope [vanity, emptiness] in stolen goods [robbery, plunder]. If your riches [wealth, material possessions] increase, do not set [fix, establish] your heart [mind, affections] upon them [on earthly treasures]. word study 11 God [the supreme Almighty] has spoken once [clearly and decisively]; I have heard this [clear message] twice [repeatedly and emphatically]: that power [strength, might, and authority] belongs to God [as the sole source of all might], word study 12 and loving devotion [merciful kindness, faithful love] to You, O Lord [the supreme God, Elohim]. For You will repay [render, reward] each man according to [based on, in proportion to] his deeds [works, actions]. word study
