1 Chronicles 18

1 And after that Dauid bet 'fee Philistines and subdewed them, and toke Geth & the townes that longed therto, out of the handes of the Philistines. 2 And he be the Moabites, and the Moabites became Dauids seruauntes, and payde hym trybute. 3 And Dauid bet Hadadezer kynge of Zobah vnto Hemath, as he went to brynge hys dominion vnto 'fee ryuer Euphrates. 4 And Dauid toke from him a thousande charettes and seuen thousande horsemen and twenty thousand fote men, and brake al the charettes, saue that he reserued of them an hundred. 5 Then came the Sirians of Damasco to helpe Hadadezer kinge of Zobah. And Dauid slue of the Sirians .xxij. thousande, 6 and put garysons in Siria Damasco. And the Sirians became Dauids seruauntes and brought him tribute. For the Lorde holpe Dauid in all that he went to. 7 And Dauid toke the shyldes of goulde 'fet were on the seruauntes of Hadadezer, and brought them to Ierusalem. 8 And from Tebahath & Chun, cytyes of Hadadezer, brought Dauid exceadynge muche brasse. Wherwith Salomon made the brasen sea, and the pyllers and the vesselles of brasse. 9 And when thou kynge of Hemath, heard how Dauid had beaten all the hoste of Hadadezer kynge of Zobach, 10 he sent Haduram his sonne to kynge Dauid, to salute him and to blesse him, because he had fought with Hadadezer & beaten him (for thou had warre wyth Hadadezer) and sent all maner and Iewelles of goulde, syluer & brasse with him. 11 And king Dauid dedicated them also vnto the Lord wt the syluer & goulde that he brought from all nacyons, from the Edomites, from the Moabites, from 'fee children of Ammon, from the Philistines, & from the Amalechites. 12 And Abisai 'fee sonne of Zaruiah slue of the Edomites in the salte valeye .xviij. thousande, 13 and put Soudiars in Edom, & all Edom became Dauids seruauntes, for the Lorde kepte Dauid in all that he toke in hande. 14 And Dauid raigned ouer all Israel, and dyd right and equyte vnto al his people. 15 And Ioab the sonne of Zaruiah was ouer the hoste, and Iehosaphat the sonne of Ahilud recorder, 16 and Zadock the sonne of Ahitob & Abimeleh 'fee sonne of Abiathar were the priestes, & Susa was scribe, 17 & Banaiah the sonne of Iehoiada was ouer the Cerethites, and the Phelethites, and the eldest sonnes of Dauid waited at the kinges hand.
