Psalms 81

Matt1549

1 To the chaunter vpon Githith, of Asaph. Singe merely vnto God which is our strengthe, make a chearfull noyse vnto the god of Iacob. 2 Take the Psalme, brynge hyther the tabret, the mery harpe & lute. 3 Blowe vp the trompettes in the new mone, vpon our solempne feast daye. 4 For this is the vse in Israel, and a lawe of the God of Iacob. 5 This he ordeined in Ioseph for a testimony, when he came out of Epipt, & had heard a straunge language. 6 When he eased hys shoulder from the burthen, and when hys handes were deliuered from the pottes. 7 When thou callest vpon me in trouble, I helped the, and hearde the, what tyme as the storme fell vpon the, I proued the also at 'fee water of stryfe. Selah. 8 Heare, O my people, for I assure the O Israel, if thou wilt herken vnto me: 9 There shal no straunge God be in the, neither shalt thou worshippe any other God. 10 I am the Lord thy God, which broughte the out of the lande of Egipt, open thy mouth wyde, and I shall fyll it. 11 But my people wolde not heare my voice and Israel wolde not obey me. 12 So I gaue them vp vnto their owne hertes luste, and let them folowe theyr owne ymaginacions. 13 O that my people wolde obeye me, for if Israel wolde walke in my wayes: 14 I should soone put doune their enemyes, and turne myne hande againste their aduersaries. 15 The haters of the Lord should mysse Israel, but their tyme shoulde endure for euer. 16 He should feade them with the finest wheat floure, and satisfye them with hony out of 'fee stony rocke.
