John 5

Worrell

1 After these things there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2 Now there is in Jerusalem, by the sheep-gate, a pool, which is called, in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches. 3 In these were lying a multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, withered, [waiting for the moving of the waters: 4 for an angel of the Lord went down at a certain period into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever, therefore, first, after the troubling of the water, stepped in, was healed of whatsoever disease he had]. 5 And a certain man was there, who had been for thirty-eight years in his infirmity. 6 Jesus, seeing this man lying, and knowing that already for a long time he had been , saith to him, 7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no one, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool; but, while I am coming, another goes down before me!" 8 Jesus saith to him, 9 And straightway the man became well, and took up his bed, and was walking. And it was sabbath on that day. 10 The Jews, therefore, said to him who had been cured, “It is sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed." 11 But he answered them, “He Who made me well, the Same said to me, 12 They asked him, “Who is the Man That said to you, 13 And he who was healed knew not Who it was; for Jesus withdrew, a multitude being in the place. 14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple. And He said to him, 15 The man went away, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who made him well. 16 And, on this account, the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because He was doing these things on sabbath. 17 But He answered them, 18 For this cause, therefore, the Jews were seeking the more to kill Him, because He not only broke sabbath, but also called God His Father, making Himself equal with God. 19 Jesus, therefore, answered and said to them, 21 alive; so also the Son maketh alive whom He willeth.} 27 Son of Man.} 29 those who practiced evil, to the resurrection of judgment.} 36 John; for the works which the Father hath given Me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing testify concerning Me, that the Father hath sent Me.} 44 receive glory from one another, and the glory which is from God only ye seek not?}
