Luke 22

Worrell

1 Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the Passover, was drawing near; 2 and the high priests and scribes were seeking how they might put Him to death; for they were fearing the people. 3 And Satan entered into Judas, the one called Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve; 4 and, departing, he consulted with the high priests and captains, how he might deliver Him up to them. 5 And they were glad, and covenanted to give money. 6 And he agreed, and was seeking an opportunity to deliver Him up to them, in the absence of a multitude. 7 And the day of unleavened bread came, on which the passover must be sacrificed. 8 And He sent Peter and John, saying, 9 And they said to Him, “Where dost Thou wish that we make ready?" 10 And He said to them, 13 And, going away, they found as He had said to them; and they made ready the passover. 14 And, when the hour came, He reclined , and His apostles with Him. 15 And He said to them, 17 And, having taken a cup, giving thanks, He said, 19 And, taking bread, giving thanks, He broke, and gave to them, saying, 20 And the cup, in like manner, after supper, saying 21 with Me on the table;} 23 And they began to inquire together among themselves, which of them it was, who was about to perpetrate this thing. 24 And there arose also a contention among them as to which of them seemed to be greatest. 25 But He said to them, 26 not so; but let the greater among you become as the younger, and he who leads as he who serves.} 27 , or he who serves? Is not he who reclines? But I am in the midst of you as One Who serveth.} 31 as the wheat;} 33 And he said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with Thee, both to prison and to death." 34 And He said, 35 And He said to them, And they said, “Nothing." 36 And He said to them, .} 37 relates to Me has an end.”} 38 And they said, “Lord, behold, here two swords.” And He said to them, 39 And, going out, He went, according to custom, to the mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed Him; 40 and, having come to the place, He said to them, 41 And He was parted from them about a stone’s throw; and, kneeling down, He prayed, 42 saying, 43 And there appeared to Him an angel from Heaven, strengthening Him. 44 And, being in an agony, He was praying more earnestly. And His sweat became, as it were, large drops of blood falling down upon the ground! 45 And, arising from prayer, coming to the disciples, He found them sleeping for grief, 46 and said to them, 47 While He was yet speaking, behold, a multitude, and he who is called Judas, one of the twelve, was coming before them; and he drew near to Jesus to kiss Him. 48 And Jesus said to him, 49 And those about Him, seeing what was about to follow, said, “Lord, shall we smite with the sword?" 50 And a certain one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and struck off his right ear. 51 But Jesus, answering, said, And, touching the ear, He healed him. 52 And Jesus said to the high priests and captains of the temple and elders, who came up against Him, 53 hands against Me; but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”} 54 And, seizing Him, they led Him away, and brought Him into the house of the high priest. But Peter was following afar off. 55 And, they having kindled a fire in the midst of the court, and having sat down together, Peter was sitting in the midst of them. 56 And a certain maid, seeing him sitting by the light, and looking intently at him, said, “This man also was with Him." 57 But he denied, saying, “I do not know Him, woman." 58 And, after a little while, another, seeing him, said, “You also are of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not." 59 And, about one hour having intervened, a certain other was confidently insisting, saying, “Of a truth this one also was with Him; for he also is a Galilaean." 60 But Peter said, “Man, I know not what you are saying.” And immediately, while he was yet speaking, a cock crowed. 61 And, turning, the Lord looked upon Peter: and Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He said to him, 62 And, going forth without, he wept bitterly. 63 And the men who were holding were mocking Him, beating ; 64 and, blindfolding Him, they were questioning Him, saying, “Prophesy who he is that smote Thee." 65 And many other things they said against Him, reviling Him. 66 And, when it was day, the eldership of the people was gathered together, both high priests and scribes; and they led Him away into their Sanhedrin, saying, 67 “If Thou art the Christ, tell us.” But He said to them, 70 And they all said, “Art Thou, therefore, the Son of God?” And He said to them, 71 And they said, “Why do we still have need of testimony? for we ourselves heard from His own mouth!"
