John 13
Worsley1 Now before the feast of the passover, (Jesus knowing that his hour was come, when He should pass out of this world unto the Father, as He had loved his own, who were in the world, He loved them unto the end:) 2 supper being prepared, (the devil having put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, of Simon, to betray Him) Jesus, 3 who knew that the Father had given all into his hands, and that He came from God, and was going to God, 4 riseth from supper, and turneth aside his clothes, and took a towel and tied about Him; 5 then pouring water into a bason, began to wash the feet of disciples, and to wipe with the towel wherewith He was girded. 6 He cometh therefore to Simon Peter who saith unto Him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? 7 Jesus answered and said unto him, 8 Peter saith to Him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, 9 Simon Peter saith unto Him, Lord, not my feet only, but also hands and head. 10 Jesus saith to him, clean all over: and ye are clean, but not all } 11 For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, 12 And when He had washed their feet, and taken his clothes He sat down again, and said to them, what I have been doing to you?} 13 I am.} 14 Lord and Master have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.} 16 the messenger greater than he that sent him.} 17 happy are ye, if ye do them.} 18 that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me, hath lift up his heel against me.} 19 I tell you now, before it come, that when it comes to pass ye may believe that I am } 20 whom I shall send, receiveth me: and he that receiveth me, receiveth Him that sent me.} 21 Jesus having said these was troubled in spirit, and He testified and said, 22 The disciples therefore looked on one another, doubting of whom He spake. 23 Now there was one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, sitting next Him. 24 Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him to ask, who it was concerning whom He spake. 25 And he, reclining on the breast of Jesus, saith unto Him, Lord, who is it? 26 Jesus answered, } and He dipped in a sop and gave to Judas Iscariot of Simon. 27 And after the sop Satan entred into him. And it was night. 31 And when he was gone out Jesus said, 32 if God be glorified in Him, God will glorify Him in Himself, and will soon glorify Him.} 33 with you a little longer. Ye will wish for me, and as I said to the Jews, “Whither I go ye cannot come”, so I now tell you.} 34 by this shall all know that ye are my disciples,} 35 love to each other.} 36 Simon Peter saith unto Him, Lord, whither art thou going?
