John 2

Worsley

1 And the third day there was a marriage at Cana of Galilee: and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 And Jesus and his disciples were invited to the wedding. 3 And the wine falling short, the mother of Jesus saith unto Him, They have no wine. 4 Jesus saith unto her, 5 His mother saith to the servants, Whatsoever he ordereth you do 6 And there were six stone waterpots, placed according to the custom of purifying among the Jews, containing each about two or three firkins. 7 Jesus saith unto them, and they filled them up to the brim. 8 And he saith unto them, to the master of the feast.} And they carried 9 And when the manager of the feast had tasted the water which was made wine, and knew not whence it was, (but the servants, that drew the water, knew,) he called the bride-groom, 10 and saith unto him, Every man sets good wine at first, and when they have drank plentifully, then worse; thou hast keep the good wine till now. 11 This beginning of miracles Jesus wrought at Cana of Galilee, and made manifest his glory: and his disciples believed on Him. 12 After this He went down to Capernaum, He and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: but they staid there not many days. 13 For the passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. And He found in the temple those that sold oxen, 14 and sheep, and doves, and the money changers sitting: 15 and having made a whip of small cords He drove all, out of the temple; with the sheep and the oxen: and He poured out the changers money, and threw down the tables. 16 And said to them that sold doves, from hence, and make not my Father’s house an house of traffick.} 17 And his disciples remembered that it is written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up. 18 The Jews therefore answered and said unto Him, What sign dost thou shew us, seeing thou dost these 19 Jesus answered and said unto them, } then said the Jews, 20 Forty and six years has this temple been building, and wilt thou raise it up in three days? but He spake of the temple of his body. 21 Therefore when he was risen from the dead, 22 his disciples remembered, that He said this to them: and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus said. 23 And when he was in Jerusalem at the passover on the feast- many believed in his name, seeing his miracles, which He wrought. 24 But Jesus did not trust Himself to them; 25 for He knew all and He had no need that any should testify concerning man; for He knew what was in man.
