John 21
Worsley1 After these Jesus shewed Himself again to the disciples near the sea of Tiberias; and He shewed thus. 2 Simon Peter and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together: 3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing, they say to him, We also go with thee. they went out, and forthwith entered into a ship: and that night they caught nothing. 4 But when it was morning, Jesus stood on the shore: though the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. 5 Then Jesus saith unto them, 6 They answered Him, No. And He said unto them, } So they cast and they were not able to draw it by reason of the multitude of fishes. 7 Whereupon that disciple whom Jesus loved, saith to Peter, “It is the Lord.” Then Simon Peter perceiving that it was the Lord, girded on his coat, (for he was stript,) and threw himself into the sea; 8 and the other disciples came in the boat dragging the net of fishes; for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits. 9 And as soon as they were come to land, they saw a fire laid, and fish upon and bread. 10 Jesus saith unto them, of the fish, which ye have now caught.} 11 Simon Peter went aboard, and drew the net to land, full of large fishes, an hundred fifty-three: and though there were so many, the net was not broken. 12 Jesus saith unto them, dine.} And none of the disciples presumed to ask Him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord. 13 Jesus therefore cometh and taketh bread, and giveth to them, and fish likewise. 14 This was the third time that Jesus shewed Himself to his disciples, after He was risen from the dead. 15 Now when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, of Jonas, dost thou love me more than these?} He saith unto Him, Yes, Lord, Thou knowest that I love Thee. He saith unto him, 16 He saith to him again the second time, of Jonas, dost thou love me?} He saith unto Him, Yes, Lord, Thou knowest that I love Thee. 17 He saith unto him, He saith unto him the third time, of Jonas, dost thou love me?} Peter was grieved, that He said to him the third time, And he said unto Him, Lord, Thou knowest all things, Thou knowest that I love Thee. Jesus saith unto him, 19 This He said, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when He had said this, He saith unto him, 20 And Peter turning about seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved, (and who leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, who is he that will betray Thee?) following 21 seeing him, Peter saith to Jesus, Lord, what this 22 Jesus saith unto him, to thee? Follow thou me.} 23 This rumor therefore was spread among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: though Jesus did not say that he should not die, but— to thee?} 24 This is the disciple that testifieth of these and that writeth them: and we know that his testimony is true. 25 There are also many other that Jesus did, which if they were described particularly, I suppose that the whole world could not contain the books written Amen.
