1 And He began to speak unto them in parables. man planted a vineyard, and made a fence about and digged the wine-fat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and travelled abroad.} 3 and sent away empty.} 4 on the head, and sent him away shamefully used.} 5 killing others.} 6 last unto them, saying, they will reverence my Son.} 8 casting out of the vineyard.} 9 husbandmen, and will let the vineyard to others.} 12 And they sought to lay hands on Him, but they were afraid of the people; (for they knew that He spake the parable against them) and they left Him, and went away. 13 And they send to Him some of the pharisees, and of the Herodians to insnare Him in discourse: 14 and these, when they came, said to Him, Master, we know that thou art a man of truth, and carest for no man; for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to pay tribute to Cesar, or not? should we give, or should we not give? 15 But He knew their hypocrisy, and said to them, } 16 So they brought and He saith to them, this image and inscription?} And they said Cesar’s. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto them, unto Cesar the things that are Cesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.} And they marvelled at Him. 18 Then come the sadducees to Him, who say there is no resurrection; 19 and they asked Him, saying, Master, Moses, in his writings tells us, if any one’s brother die, and leave a wife, and leave no children, that his brother shall take his wife, and raise up seed to his brother. 20 Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife and died and left no seed; 21 and the second took her, and died, and he left seed neither; and the third likewise. 22 And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all died the woman also. 23 In the resurrection therefore, when they rise again, whose wife shall be of them; for the seven had her to wife? 24 And Jesus answering said unto them, 26 the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?} 28 And one of the scribes, who heard them disputing, seeing that He answered them well, came to and asked Him, Which is the chief commandment of all? 29 And Jesus answered him, “Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord,} 30 commandment,} 31 like this, “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself:” there is no other commandment greater than these.} 32 And the scribe said unto Him, Truly, Master, thou hast spoke well; for there is one God, and there is no other beside Him. 33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love neighbour as himself, is more than all whole-burnt-offerings and sacrifices. 34 And Jesus seeing that he answered discreetly, said to him, And no one dared any more to put questions to Him. 35 And Jesus spake and said, teaching in the temple, 37 people heard Him with pleasure.} 38 And He said unto them as He was teaching 39 chief seats in the synagogues, and uppermost places at feasts;} 40 make long prayers: these shall receive heavier judgement.} 41 And as Jesus was sitting over against the treasury, He saw how the people threw money into the treasury, and many rich put in much; 42 and there came a poor widow and put in two mites, that is, a farthing. 43 And He called his disciples to Him, and saith unto them, 44 all contributed out of their abundance: but she out of her penury hath given all that she had, her whole living.}
