17So all who resolve to go to Egypt to reside there will die by sword and famine and plague. Not one of them will survive or escape the disaster I will bring upon them.’ 18For this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Just as My anger and wrath were poured out on the residents of Jerusalem, so will My wrath be poured out on you if you go to Egypt. You will become an object of cursing and horror, of vilification and disgrace, and you will never see this place again.’Cross References

Jeremiah 42:16 Summary
[This verse is warning the remnant of Judah that if they go to Egypt, they will not find the safety and security they are looking for, but instead will face the very things they are trying to escape, as seen in Jeremiah 42:16. This is because God is sovereign and knows what is best for us, and when we disobey His commands, we can face negative consequences, as stated in Deuteronomy 28:15-68. By trusting in God's plan and provision, we can find true security and peace, as promised in Jeremiah 29:11 and Psalms 23:4.]

Is this warning only for the remnant of Judah, or does it apply to others as well?

How does this verse relate to the concept of trusting in God's sovereignty?
This verse highlights the importance of trusting in God's sovereignty, as the remnant of Judah is being warned against trusting in Egypt for their security, and instead should trust in God's plan and provision, as stated in Jeremiah 29:11 and Romans 8:28.
